When large quantities of samples need to be stored or incubated at temperatures monitored by redundant systems, the Memmert IPP110ecoplus Peltier cooling incubator combines the largest internal volume in the series – 108 litres – with the TwinDISPLAY feature for greater process reliability. The unit maintains samples and cultures at temperatures ranging from 0 to +70 degrees Celsius – including well below room temperature – and is designed for applications with higher demands on redundancy and documentation compared to the SingleDISPLAY base version, the IPP110eco.

TwinDISPLAY: dual sensor system for the large interior

Two Pt100 sensors of DIN Class A quality, measured using the 4-wire method, monitor the temperature in the 108-litre interior in tandem. If one of the two sensors fails, the second automatically takes over its function without interrupting ongoing operation. The upper and lower Peltier elements can also be controlled individually, allowing for a more precise distribution of cooling and heating output across the large interior and reducing the risk of a single sensor failure going unnoticed. Without lighting, the operating temperature range extends to at least 20 degrees Celsius below room temperature; with the light switched on, it ranges from plus 10 to plus 40 degrees Celsius.

AutoSAFETY and full programmability

The AutoSAFETY safety function automatically tracks the setpoint within a selectable tolerance range, thereby protecting against over- and under-temperature conditions; this can be optionally supplemented by a Class TWW 3.3 or TWB 2 temperature selector monitor or limiter. Users can programme, manage and transfer process data directly via Ethernet or USB using the AtmoCONTROL software included in the scope of delivery; a separate licence is not required for this, unlike with the SingleDISPLAY version, which comes with a time-limited trial version. Furthermore, a programmable door lock, door-open detection and a USB user ID stick are available as optional extras exclusively for the TwinDISPLAY version.

Security, door and interior

The fully insulated stainless-steel door, featuring a two-point locking mechanism and an internal glass door, allows visual inspection of the interior without disrupting the temperature through frequent opening of the outer door. In combination with the optional door-open detection, it is also possible to log how often and for how long the door was open during a test period. The interior accommodates up to 5 shelves with a total load capacity of 150 kilograms, up to a maximum of 20 kilograms per shelf. The standard specification already includes 2 electropolished stainless steel wire shelves, identical to those in the SingleDISPLAY basic version.

Dimensions and capacity

With internal dimensions of 560 × 480 × 400 millimetres (depth reduced by 32 millimetres due to the built-in fan) and external dimensions of 745 × 864 × 555 millimetres, the IPP110ecoplus fits into the same size class as the SingleDISPLAY model IPP110eco, the largest model in the series. The connected load is approximately 320 watts (230 V or 115 V, 50/60 Hz), the net weight is approximately 63 kilograms, and the gross weight, including packaging, is around 86 kilograms. The packaging dimensions of 830 × 1050 × 800 millimetres correspond to those of the SingleDISPLAY variant, meaning that delivery and installation can be planned in the same way in advance.

Access control and data logging

As the TwinDISPLAY offers full Ethernet and USB connectivity, the supplied AtmoCONTROL software can be used not only to programme temperature profiles but also to manage the optional programmable door lock and the door-open detection system. In combination with a USB user ID stick, it is possible to track when and by whom the large interior compartment was opened, which is particularly helpful when there are several user groups in the same laboratory. Continuous logging via both Pt100 sensors provides a complete, redundant temperature history for verification purposes with internal or external testing bodies – an aspect that is particularly significant for a unit of this size, with a correspondingly large number of samples stored in parallel.
