The Allure Silica is a normal-phase column for separations of small molecules, 250 mm long, 2.1 mm inner diameter, with 5 µm particles (USP L3). It is suitable for MOSH/MOAH analysis according to EN 16995.
Phase and particles
The packing consists of type B silica with a very large surface area of 450 m²/g. The particles are spherical, fully porous and 5 µm in size, and the pores measure 60 Å. The phase is highly retentive and designed for normal-phase separations.
MOSH/MOAH analysis according to EN 16995
Within the Allure Silica series, part number 9160572 is intended for MOSH/MOAH analysis according to EN 16995. The standard describes the analytical method, and the column is suitable for it. It combines the highly retentive silica phase with spherical 5 µm particles in the format 250 x 2.1 mm.
Normal phase and limits of use
The Allure Silica is not designed for purely aqueous mobile phases. The pH range is 2.5 to 8.0, and the maximum operating temperature is 80 °C. Comparable phases from other manufacturers are Phenomenex LiChrospher Si-60 and Maxsil Si. For reversed-phase separations with aqueous eluents, the Ultra Aqueous C18, for example, is a good choice.
Choosing among the three HPLC columns
At 250 mm, the Allure Silica is considerably longer than the Ultra Aqueous C18 and the Force Biphenyl. The inner diameter of 2.1 mm is the same for all three columns.

Accessories for automated systems
