Product information "Unigloves Crossguard Nitrile antimicrobial nitrile glove, GM0105 – XL"
The Unigloves Crossguard Nitrile antimicrobial nitrile glove adds an additional surface technology to the Unigloves range: KluraLabs. Unlike the dyed gloves in the Pearl range, Crossguard is blue in colour and powder-free, fully nitrile-dipped, with textured fingertips and a rolled cuff. The Crossguard Nitrile glove is available in five sizes, from XS to XL.
KluraLabs antimicrobial surface technology
The Crossguard is fitted with the manufacturer’s KluraLabs antimicrobial surface technology. Its barrier performance against microorganisms has been tested according to EN ISO 374-5, and its chemical protection according to EN ISO 374, Category III, Type C.
The thickness is 0.07 mm (± 0.02 mm) at the palm and 0.11 mm (± 0.03 mm) at the fingertip, measured on a single layer in each case. The glove is also thiuram-free and protein-free.
Chemical protection according to EN ISO 374, Category III, Type C, with extended AQL test levels
Crossguard is classified as Category III, Type C according to EN ISO 374 and complies with EN 455 (Parts 1 to 4) and EN ISO 21420. In testing with 40 % sodium hydroxide solution according to EN ISO 374-4, the highest permeation level 6 was achieved, with a degradation of minus 5.3 %. In addition to the 1,000-ml water-tightness test with an AQL value of 1.5, the data sheet for Crossguard also documents visual inspections for major defects with an AQL of 2.5 and for minor defects with an AQL of 4.0, representing a more comprehensive test programme than for most other gloves in this selection. The glove is manufactured under a quality management system certified to DIN EN ISO 13485:2021; the type examination according to Module B and Module C2 of the PPE Regulation (EU) 2016/425 is carried out by CCQS (Notified Body 2834). Furthermore, the glove is food-safe.
Sizes with numerical glove sizes
The manufacturer also assigns a numerical glove size to each Crossguard standard size: XS corresponds to 5 to 6, S corresponds to 6 to 7, M corresponds to 7 to 8, L corresponds to 8 to 9 and XL corresponds to 9 to 10. The width increases from 75 mm (± 5 mm) for XS, through 85 mm, 95 mm and 106 mm (each ± 5 mm) for S, M and L, up to 120 mm (± 10 mm) for XL, with a length of at least 240 mm across all sizes. The median force at break is at least 6.0 N both before and after artificial ageing.
Typical applications
The additional antimicrobial surface technology makes Crossguard an attractive option for businesses operating in hygiene-sensitive areas:
- Areas where hygiene is a key concern and where additional antimicrobial surface technology is desired, such as cleaning or food processing
- Workplaces where gloves are changed frequently
- Working with 40 % sodium hydroxide solution and similar chemicals within the scope of the tested EN 374 Category III
- Businesses that, in addition to their standard range, wish to specifically incorporate a variant featuring additional surface technology
Where a standard nitrile glove such as Black Pearl has been used to date, Crossguard can be deployed as a targeted addition for stations with particularly high hygiene requirements, without altering the other test parameters such as chemical resistance, force at break or certification.
Crossguard compared to the Pearl range
Crossguard is not part of the twelve-colour Unigloves Pearl range, but is also a fully dipped nitrile glove with a comparable chemical protection profile. For applications that do not require the additional antimicrobial surface technology, the colour-matched Blue Pearl is available; for a dark contrasting colour, the Black Pearl. Both share the same EN ISO 374 Category III, Type C classification as Crossguard, but differ in terms of surface technology.
