A round basin, 240 mm in diameter and 130 mm deep, distinguishes the Bandelin SONOREX DIGITEC DT 106 from the rectangular DIGITEC models. The tank holds 5.6 l, has four transducer systems with a peak power of 480 W at 35 kHz and operates without a heater.
Round tank
The tank has an internal diameter of 240 mm and a depth of 130 mm. It is made of 1.4301 stainless steel, 1.0 mm thick, and the housing is made of the same material. The working capacity is 4.0 l; a fill-level mark indicates the fill height. Externally, the unit measures Ø 265 x 270 mm and weighs 5.1 kg; it has no handles.
Ultrasonic field without heating
Four vibration systems generate a peak power of 480 W at 35 kHz (rated power 120 W); the current consumption at 230 V is 0.6 A. There is no heating element. SweepTec prevents standing waves in the ultrasonic field; the DEGAS rapid degassing function is activated at the start of the cleaning process, and a pulse function is available. If you require a heating function, compare this with the DT 102 H (3.0 l, 140 W heating power) or the DT 156 BH (9.0 l, 600 W).
Operation
The DT 106 is operated using wipe-clean buttons; a display shows the remaining time. Options include 1 to 5 minutes in 1-minute increments, 10, 15 and 30 minutes (± 5 per cent), as well as continuous operation. The bath switches off 12 hours after the last button press. The drain is a G ¼ ball valve on the right-hand side; the hose connector and hose are included with the unit, and the mains cable (2 m) is permanently fitted.
Basket, lid and inserts
The K 6 stainless steel basket has a diameter of 215 mm and a depth of 50 mm (mesh size 5 x 5 mm, load capacity up to 5 kg) and is part of the range of accessories for this model. Also available are the lid D 6, the perforated lid DE 6, 0.6-litre sample cups made of glass, plastic or stainless steel, the sieve baskets KD 0 and PD 04, and the sieve holder SH 7. The FT 4 film test frame and the FL 4 film cut-outs are used to test the bath.
Alternative with an oblong tank
The SONOREX DIGITEC DT 156 offers a similar volume in an elongated design, with a capacity of 6.0 l and a bath measuring 500 x 140 x 100 mm. The DT 106 has a tank diameter of 240 mm; the tank of the DT 156 is 140 mm wide and 500 mm long.
