Bandelin SONOREX SUPER RK 510 – a robust ultrasonic bath for everyday laboratory use

The Bandelin SONOREX SUPER RK 510 is an ultrasonic bath with a total capacity of 9.7 litres (6.6 litres working capacity) for cleaning and degassing tasks in the laboratory. The stainless steel tank (grade 1.4301, wall thickness 1.0 mm) operates at a frequency of 35 kHz and delivers a rated power of 160 W with a peak power of 640 W. The cleaning duration is set via a rotary knob, either within a range of 1 to 15 minutes (± 5 per cent) or in continuous operation. A fill-level mark inside the tank facilitates correct filling with the relevant cleaning medium, ensuring that the unit can be operated quickly and without operational errors, even in daily multi-user operation.

Laboratory applications

As a pure ultrasonic bath without a heating function, the SUPER RK 510 is suitable for all applications where the medium is at ambient temperature or has already been pre-heated. Typical areas of application in everyday laboratory work include instrument cleaning, the degassing of solvents prior to analytical procedures, and the cleaning of laboratory glassware and small parts such as pipette tips, valves, sensors or tools. Thanks to its 6.6-litre capacity, several items or larger glass vessels can be placed in the cleaning bath at the same time, which increases throughput during recurring cleaning cycles. The ball valve (G 3/4) fitted on the side, with a 50 cm long drain hose, allows the tank to be emptied easily and in a controlled manner after use, without having to lift or tilt the unit – a particular advantage when the cleaning medium is changed frequently.

Features and Handling

The robust stainless steel housing with side handles ensures a secure footing on the worktop and facilitates transport within the laboratory. The unit is connected via a 2-metre-long mains cable permanently fitted to the unit, operating at a voltage of 230 V~ (± 10 %, 50/60 Hz). With an IP 32 protection rating, the housing is protected against the ingress of foreign objects and light splash water, which facilitates use in typical laboratory environments involving frequent contact with liquids. As a Class I medical device, the unit complies with the requirements of Regulation (EU) 2017/745 as well as the relevant Low Voltage, EMC and RoHS Directives, and can therefore be used in both industrial and medical laboratories.
