Brand Titrette Bottle-mounted Burette, 10 ml, with RS232 Interface, DE-M, 4760241

Product information "Brand Titrette Bottle-mounted Burette, 10 ml, with RS232 Interface, DE-M, 4760241"

The Titrette 10 ml with an RS232 interface has the same margin of error as the standard version, but also features a data interface. This allows the titration value to be transferred directly to a PC or a titration log, rather than having to type it out from the display.

RS232 instead of manual transfer

With small titration volumes, every value read counts double, because even a minor typing error during transfer can significantly alter the result in percentage terms. Via RS232, the value is transferred unchanged from the counter to the analysis software or the titration log.

Error limits of the 10 ml version

For 10 ml, Brand specifies an accuracy of 0.1 per cent / 10 µl and a coefficient of variation of 0.05 per cent / 5 µl, identical to the Titrette without a PC interface in the same volume range. The RS232 interface does not affect dosing accuracy; it merely extends the output of the measured value.

Typical applications

  • Titrations requiring documentation, where the consumption value is recorded in the report
  • Small-volume titrations with high demands on transfer accuracy
  • Connection to titration or LIMS software via the serial interface
  • Quality assurance with complete traceability of the consumption value

Selection guide: RS232 for small-volume series

For titrations with low consumption of titrant, where every microlitre counts, the RS232 interface offers a particular advantage, especially for series: the value is transferred directly to the titration record without having to be typed in individually for ten or twenty repetitions. Those who do not require electronic data transfer will find the same 10 ml accuracy in the standard version without a PC interface; for larger volumes, 25 ml and 50 ml versions are available, also with or without RS232. When switching between several titration stations with different volume requirements, this allows for consistent data recording, regardless of whether 10, 25 or 50 ml is used at each station.

Titrette RS232 versus glass burette and Dispensette

A Class A glass burette does not provide an electronically readable value; the volume used must be entered manually into the log. The Titrette with RS232 performs this step automatically. Compared with a Dispensette, the fundamental difference remains: the Dispensette repeatedly dispenses a fixed volume, whilst the Titrette accumulates the volume used during the titration up to the inflection point.

Use and maintenance

The Titrette is screwed directly onto the stock bottle containing the measuring solution using one of the three PP bottle adaptors supplied (GL 32, S 40, NS 29/32) directly onto the storage bottle containing the standard solution; the telescopic suction tube can be adjusted to bottle heights between 170 and 330 mm. Before first use and after each bottle change, the system must be vented, as with any piston burette, to ensure that no air bubbles in the cylinder affect the dosing accuracy. The return tube allows any accidentally dispensed excess titrant to be returned to the bottle, rather than having to restart the titration. Two brown-tinted light-shielding windows protect light-sensitive titrants without the need to completely cover the bottle. The counter is powered by two AAA/UM4/LR03 micro-batteries, which can be replaced without tools as soon as the display indicates a low battery voltage. A mains connection is not required; the device remains operational even at workstations without a socket.
