Brand Titrette Bottle-mounted Burette, 25 ml, with RS232 Interface, DE-M, 4760251

Product information "Brand Titrette Bottle-mounted Burette, 25 ml, with RS232 Interface, DE-M, 4760251"

The Titrette 25 ml with an RS232 interface has the same margin of error as the standard version, but also features a data interface. This allows the titration value to be transferred directly to a PC or a titration log, rather than having to type it out from the display.

RS232 instead of manual transfer

The 25 ml model is the most commonly used Titrette size; accordingly, it is frequently found in settings where titration results are documented electronically. Via the RS232 interface, the consumption value can be transferred directly to a PC without having to copy it manually from the display.

Accuracy limits of the 25 ml model

For 25 ml, Brand specifies an accuracy of 0.07 per cent / 18 µl and a coefficient of variation of 0.025 per cent / 6 µl, identical to the Titrette without a PC interface in the same volume range. The RS232 interface does not affect dosing accuracy; it merely extends the output of the measured value.

Typical applications

  • Routine titrations with electronic recording of the consumption value
  • Connection to titration or LIMS software via the serial interface
  • Quality assurance with documented, traceable measurement results
  • Workstations carrying out several titration runs per day, where manual data transfer is time-consuming

Selection guide: RS232 for the most commonly used volume range

25 ml is the volume setting most commonly used in titration practice; accordingly, an electronic connection to LIMS or Excel analysis via RS232 is often worthwhile here. Those who do not require data transfer can save on additional costs by opting for the standard version without a PC interface; 10 ml and 50 ml options are available for smaller or larger consumption volumes. In laboratories with strict quality requirements, this allows for seamless documentation of which consumption value corresponds to which sample, without the risk of transcription errors.

Titrette RS232 versus glass burette and Dispensette

A 25 ml Class A glass burette requires the value read to be transferred manually to the log; the Titrette RS232 transmits it directly. The Titrette also differs from a Dispensette in its operating principle: a fixed repeat dose as opposed to continuous accumulation up to the endpoint. This accumulation is at the heart of titration: it is not a fixed volume that counts, but the volume consumed up to the point at which the reaction reaches its inflection point, and it is precisely this point that the RS232 interface records electronically.

Use and maintenance

The Titrette is screwed directly onto the stock bottle containing the measuring solution using one of the three PP bottle adaptors supplied (GL 32, S 40, NS 29/32) directly onto the storage bottle containing the standard solution; the telescopic suction tube can be adjusted to bottle heights between 170 and 330 mm. Before first use and after each bottle change, the system must be vented, as with any piston burette, to ensure that no air bubbles in the cylinder affect the dosing accuracy. The return tube allows any accidentally dispensed excess titrant to be returned to the bottle, rather than having to restart the titration. Two brown-tinted light-protection windows shield light-sensitive titrants without the need to cover the bottle completely. The counter is powered by two AAA/UM4/LR03 micro-batteries, which can be replaced without tools as soon as the display indicates a low battery voltage. A mains connection is not required; the device remains operational even at workstations without a socket.
