Product information "Bürkle Drum Pump for Mineral Oils, Electric Centrifugal Pump, Aluminium/stainless Steel, 5763-0100"
Using a hand pump to transfer diesel, heating oil, hydraulic oil or engine oil from a 220-litre drum takes quite a while. The drum pump for mineral oils is an electrically driven centrifugal pump and, at around 85 l per minute, delivers a significantly higher flow rate; it is designed for low-viscosity mineral oil products that are regularly handled in large quantities, such as in vehicle fleets, workshops or maintenance operations.
Electric centrifugal pump for high flow rates
Instead of a pump ball or pedal, an electric motor drives the pump impeller; the oil is delivered continuously, rather than in strokes as with a reciprocating piston pump. With a delivery head of around 19 metres of water column, the pump’s capacity remains sufficient even if the receiving container is positioned at a higher level or the hose needs to be routed over a longer distance, for example to a higher-level collection tank.
For drums up to 220 l, infinitely adjustable
The 41-millimetre-diameter immersion tube can be infinitely adjusted to the depth of the drum; at full immersion depth, it extends up to 100 centimetres into the drum. The 2-metre-long outlet hose provides the necessary distance and reach to the target container during filling, for example when a collection vessel is positioned slightly away from the drum. With a viscosity limit of up to 500 mPa·s, the pump covers common low-viscosity mineral oil products, from diesel to hydraulic oil.
Materials for mineral oil products
The pump is manufactured from aluminium and stainless steel 1.4571 (AISI 316Ti), supplemented by polypropylene. Before use with a specific medium, the chemical resistance of these materials to the relevant oil should be checked, particularly in the case of additives or blended products that differ from pure mineral oils. The yellow colour scheme also makes the pump instantly distinguishable from other drum pumps in a vehicle fleet or warehouse, which makes it easier to match it to the correct medium in day-to-day use.
Continuous rather than reciprocating operation
Unlike a reciprocating piston pump, which delivers liquid in batches with each stroke, the centrifugal pump runs continuously as long as the motor is switched on. This is particularly advantageous when several drums need to be emptied in succession, for example when filling larger storage tanks or refuelling machinery and vehicles directly from the drum, without having to interrupt the pumping action manually in between.
Regulatory information
The drum pump for mineral oils is an electrical appliance within the meaning of the ElektroG. Information on the proper return of waste electrical and electronic equipment can be found under ‘Environment and Disposal’.
If a different medium or drive type is required
For highly flammable hydrocarbons such as ethanol, petrol or methanol, the drum pump for solvents - which comes with an earthing cable and explosion-proof safety instructions, is the more suitable choice, as this drum pump for mineral oils is not designed for handling potentially explosive media. For acids and alkalis, drum pumps made of PP, PVC, Hastelloy or PVDF are suitable alternatives, such as the drum pump for acids and alkalis. If no mains power supply is available, the compressed-air-powered dispensing system for solvents with a discharge hose can handle comparable drum sizes without an electric drive.
Typical applications
- Filling with diesel, heating oil and hydraulic oil from 220-litre drums
- Decanting machine and engine oil in workshops and vehicle fleets
- Businesses with regular, high-volume oil handling
- Applications where a hand pump is no longer sufficient to achieve the required flow rate
- Refuelling machinery and vehicles directly from the storage drum
- Transfer stations with a permanently installed power supply
