Bürkle Glass Immersion Bottle for Liquid Sampling, brass and clear glass, 1,000 ml, 5365-4000

Product information "Bürkle Glass Immersion Bottle for Liquid Sampling, brass and clear glass, 1,000 ml, 5365-4000"

Anyone taking a sample from a clarification tank or a process pipe often wants to see straight away how cloudy or discoloured the liquid is, without having to decant it first. The Bürkle glass sampling bottle combines a brass sampling frame with a clear glass collection vessel; according to Bürkle, it is suitable for use in potentially explosive atmospheres in Ex protection zone 0, explosion groups IIA and IIB.

Clear glass container with a capacity of 1,000 millilitres

The clear glass container holds 1,000 millilitres and makes the sample visible immediately as it is drawn, without the need for decanting. The outer diameter is 149 millimetres, the total height is 330 millimetres, of which 140 millimetres is accounted for by the collection vessel. Weighing 3.2 kilograms, the bottle sinks rapidly, much like the brass version, even though part of the assembly is made of glass.

Visual inspection directly at the sampling point

As the container is made of clear glass, the turbidity or discolouration of a sludge or water sample can be assessed right at the edge of the tank before the sample is sent to the laboratory. This helps with the monitoring of treatment stages, as it allows a quick on-site assessment of whether a sample is representative enough for further analysis, or whether a new sample needs to be taken.

Easy-Click closure for quick bottle replacement

The cap features an Easy-Click mechanism made from electrically conductive polyamide. This allows the glass bottle to be quickly removed from the immersion rack and replaced with an empty one, ensuring minimal delay between two sampling operations.

Brass, copper and conductive polyamide: only spark-free materials

The immersion frame is made of nickel-plated brass, supplemented by copper and seals made of acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber and polyamide. None of the materials used in the construction are spark-prone, ensuring that the entire assembly remains suitable for use in hazardous areas, even though the collection vessel itself is made of glass.

Maintenance between sampling sessions

As the glass container is mounted separately from the brass frame, it can be removed for cleaning and rinsed independently of the metal parts. When taking serial samples from several clarifiers in succession, this reduces the time required for changeovers, as the frame and container can be cleaned in parallel rather than having to be processed one after the other. After use, the entire assembly can be left to dry before being lowered back into the basin or tank.

Weight and handling compared to the brass version

At 3.2 kilograms, the weight of the glass version is only slightly less than that of the all-brass bottle, which weighs 3.3 kilograms. This makes little difference to how quickly it sinks; both versions reach the bottom of a tank or basin rapidly. The difference is most noticeable at the edge of the basin: the glass version makes the sample taken immediately recognisable, whereas with the solid brass version, it is only after opening that it becomes clear what has actually been taken.

For sewage treatment works as well as for mineral oil samples

Bürkle specifies two areas of application for the glass immersion bottle: sludge and water samples in sewage treatment works, as well as crude oils, fuels, heating oils, petroleum and liquid lubricants. For groundwater samples taken from outside tanks, LT Laborhandel also stocks the AquaSampler. If, on the other hand, the higher explosion group IIC is required – for example, with certain fuels – the brass Ex sampling bottle is the more suitable choice, as, according to Bürkle, it is also suitable for IIC. The sampling vessel is available for full-depth samples with larger volumes.

Typical areas of application

  • Sampling in sewage treatment works, sludge and water samples
  • Visual inspection of the sample directly at the sampling point
  • Crude oils and liquid petroleum products
  • Fuels, special and test petrol, heating oils, kerosene, liquid lubricants
  • Work in areas for which Bürkle specifies Ex protection zone 0, explosion groups IIA and IIB

Service and procurement

If sampling is carried out regularly at both sewage treatment works and oil tanks, it is worth checking with LT Laborhandel whether, in addition to the glass version, the brass variant with a higher explosion group is also included in the range. Replacement clear glass bottles can be ordered at the same time if required. If you have any questions regarding the correct design, please contact LT Laborhandel directly for assistance.
