Product information "Bürkle, mains-powered laboratory pump, PP/PVC, 70 cm, 75 l/min, #5700-2200"
Anyone who needs to quickly transfer an acid or alkali from a canister or drum without a seal in the pump coming into contact with the fluid requires a seal-less pump. The mains-powered laboratory pump is designed precisely for this purpose: an electric centrifugal pump made of PP/PVC that delivers aqueous media up to 300 mPas at a flow rate of around 75 l/min, whilst operating without a shaft seal.
Seal-less pump unit for corrosive media
In conventional centrifugal pumps, the shaft seal is usually the weak point when pumping acids or alkalis. This laboratory pump does away with this seal entirely; the pump is therefore specifically designed for contact with acids and alkalis. The casing and impeller are made of polypropylene (PP) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC), two materials offering broad chemical resistance in everyday laboratory use.
Flow rate and viscosity range
With a flow rate of around 75 l/min, the pump can quickly transfer even larger volumes from the container. The viscosity limit is approximately 300 mPas, which corresponds to the range of thin to moderately viscous aqueous liquids. The outlet hose is 1 m long; the immersion tube has a diameter of 32 mm and fits through container openings of 32 mm or larger.
Two immersion depths for different containers
The shorter version, with a 70 cm immersion depth, is suitable for canisters and containers up to approximately 60 litres. For larger drums up to approximately 220 litres, the version with a 100 cm immersion depth is the right choice. Which variant is required depends on the height of the container at the workplace, regardless of its actual volume.
Striking yellow, highly visible
The pump is finished in high-visibility yellow. In a workplace with several decanting devices, this is a clear advantage: the laboratory pump can be distinguished from other pumping units at a glance, making it easier to avoid confusion when selecting the correct pump.
Electric drive instead of a hand pump
Compared to a hand pump, the electric drive saves time and effort when handling larger quantities. Anyone who regularly decants several canisters or an entire drum does not have to pump manually several times, but simply starts the pump and monitors the fill level in the receiving container.
Everyday use with acids and alkalis
In chemical stores or at decanting stations, a wide variety of media are frequently used. As the pump unit has no seals that could be corroded by aggressive substances, the pump remains functional even with frequent changes of medium, provided that PP and PVC are compatible with the respective medium.
Set-up and operation
The immersion tube is inserted into the container, whilst the outlet hose directs the medium into the destination container. As the pump is designed for container openings from 32 mm, it also fits through the narrower openings of some canisters and drums without the need for an additional funnel or adapter.
Switching between multiple workstations
As the pump is connected to a mains socket, it is best suited to workstations with a fixed power supply near the canister or drum. If no mains power supply is available, a battery-powered or manual alternative is the more practical choice.
Typical applications
- Decanting acids and alkalis from canisters and drums
- Filling with aqueous media with a viscosity of up to 300 mPas
- Chemical storage facilities and hazardous substance transfer stations
- Laboratory workstations involving repeated transfer from narrow container openings from 32 mm upwards

Regulatory information
The mains-powered laboratory pump is an electrical appliance within the meaning of the ElektroG. Information on the return of end-of-life equipment can be found under ‘Environment and Disposal’.
Service and procurement
Both the 70 cm and 100 cm versions can be reordered individually if the same pump is required at additional workstations. The appropriate immersion depth depends on the height of the standard containers used at the workstation. LT Laborhandel supplies both versions individually and, if required, can also recommend an alternative, such as the manual drum pump for acids and alkalis for premises without a power socket on the drum, or the battery-powered AccuOne for smaller quantities. If you have any queries regarding the appropriate pump for your specific medium, please contact LT Laborhandel for assistance.
