A 500-millilitre bottle of solvent or a 5-litre canister does not require a 220-litre drum pump, but it does need a way to dispense the contents in a controlled manner without direct contact. The Mini solvent pump is designed precisely for these small containers: compact, with a GL45 thread for bottles and canisters, and operating on the same overpressure principle as the larger Bürkle solvent pumps, but on a scale suited to bottles rather than drums.

Compact design for small containers

Instead of a long dip tube for drums, the Mini has a short delivery tube that can be replaced and shortened as required. This allows it to adapt to bottles and canisters of varying heights, without a tube that is too long hitting the bottom or one that is too short failing to reach the remaining liquid. The GL45 internal thread screws directly onto standard laboratory bottles and small containers with this connection; no additional adapter is required.

For containers up to around 10 litres

With a maximum immersion depth of 40 centimetres and a 104-millimetre-long outlet elbow, the Mini is designed for containers up to around 10 litres. At around 1 litre per minute, it pumps significantly more slowly than the larger models; however, this allows for more precise dosing in smaller increments, for example when preparing reagents or decanting in portions. As with the other solvent pumps in the series, the viscosity limit of up to 500 mPa·s applies, meaning that even slightly thicker solvents can still be pumped without any problems.

Earthing is included in the scope of delivery

A 2-metre-long earthing cable is supplied with the pump, along with a 0.4-metre-long PTFE hose with a diameter of 6 by 8 millimetres. Bürkle also highlights the explosion protection guidelines for the Mini when handling flammable, highly flammable liquids: all parts must be earthed, and an anti-static kit is additionally recommended. As the earthing cable is already included in the scope of delivery, the basic equipment for safe operation is ready for immediate use without the need to procure suitable accessories first.

Precision rather than speed

At around 1 litre per minute, the Mini is not a pump designed for high throughput, but rather for controlled, incremental work. Anyone loading an analytical balance, preparing a buffer solution or filling a series of small sample vessels one after the other will benefit more from the precise dosing capability than from high flow rates. The adjustable delivery tube can be set so that it ends just above the bottom of the respective bottle, ensuring it reaches even the last few millilitres.

When larger containers are in use

For drums up to 60 litres with a G2-inch thread, the hand pump for solvents is the suitable addition; for tinplate canisters with bellows closures, the identically constructed solvent pump for tinplate canisters is suitable. If 220-litre drums are also regularly tapped, the compressed-air-powered dispensing system for solvents with a discharge hose meets this requirement without the need for a separate pump type for each container size. This allows the Mini to be used specifically for small quantities and the larger pump for the rest of the drum stock.
