Elma Elmasonic Select 80 Ultrasonic Bath with Heating, 9.3 Litre, 37 kHz, 1106853

The tank is 475 mm long and only 110 mm deep, the smallest tank depth in the Select range. The Elma Elmasonic Select 80 thus holds 9.3 litres total volume, with 6.8 litres recommended. The length matches that of the Select 300, while the depth is 160 mm less. Laboratory instruments, measuring equipment and components that fit into a narrow tank are cleaned here. As with the entire Select series, the unit operates at 37 kHz, with five ultrasonic modes and four programs that can be saved.

Tank geometry

Internally the tank measures 475 x 110 x 145 mm, and the fill level is 115 mm. 95 mm remain between the basket floor and the liquid level. The original accessory basket has internal dimensions of 455 x 106 x 75 mm and may be loaded with up to 5 kg. Externally the unit measures 570 x 195 x 280 mm and weighs 6.9 kg with lid. A plastic lid is included and can be turned upside down and used as a drip tray for a basket.

Performance data

The ultrasonic power is 150 W effective at 600 W peak and 37 kHz. At 600 W, the heater is stronger than the 400 W of the Select 60, and the total power consumption is 750 W. Five modes are available: Eco, Sweep, Pulse, Dynamic and Degas. Four programs store a setting permanently, and the Select button starts program operation. Auto-Degas and the temperature-controlled start are part of the functions.

Draining, operation, protection

The G 3/8 inch drain connection is opened with a rotary switch, and the DN10 hose nozzle is part of the scope of delivery. Settings are made via the large display and the membrane keypad, with the duration ranging from 1 minute to 6 hours and the setpoint temperature from 25 to 80 °C. The limit temperature is adjustable between 40 and 60 °C. Dry-run protection acts when the heating is active, and after 8 hours the unit switches off. With lid, the sound pressure level at a distance of 1 m is below 80 dB(A) and the ultrasonic pressure level below 110 dB. The housing has protection rating IP20 and protection class I.

Select 80 compared with its neighbours

The Elmasonic Select 60 has a tank length of 280 mm, which is 195 mm shorter, but at 130 mm it is somewhat deeper. The Elmasonic Select 100 has 9.5 litres, but a tank of 280 x 220 x 145 mm, so considerably more depth with less length. Anyone who needs both 475 mm length and more depth should look at the Elmasonic Select 300 with 475 x 270 x 195 mm. The Elmasonic Select 150 is even somewhat longer with a tank length of 485 mm; its tank measures 485 x 280 x 95 mm and is therefore considerably shallower in height than that of the Select 80 at 145 mm.
