Elma Elmasonic Select 60 Ultrasonic Bath with Heating, 5.9 Litre, 37 kHz, 1106990

Items cleaned in the Select series include volumetric measuring equipment, test tubes and other laboratory instruments. The Elma Elmasonic Select 60 is designed for this with 5.9 litres total volume and 4.3 litres recommended working volume. Compared with the Select 40, it has a drain connection, more heating power and a longer tank. The tank is made of stainless steel like the housing, and the frequency is 37 kHz. Externally the unit measures 370 x 210 x 280 mm with lid and weighs 5.2 kg.

Tank dimensions and drain

The internal dimensions of the tank are 280 x 130 x 145 mm, the fill level 115 mm. 85 mm remain between the basket floor and the liquid level. The original accessory basket measures 255 x 115 x 75 mm internally and carries up to 5 kg. The medium is drained via a G 3/8 inch connection that is opened and closed with a rotary switch. The DN10 hose nozzle is supplied with the unit. The plastic lid serves, turned upside down, as a drip tray for a basket.

Ultrasound, heating and programs

150 W effective ultrasonic power compares with 600 W peak power, the heater delivers 400 W, and the unit draws 550 W in total. Five modes can be selected: Eco, Sweep, Pulse, Dynamic and Degas. Sweep distributes the mechanical cleaning effect evenly, Degas prepares the bath for the actual cleaning, and Dynamic combines Pulse and Sweep. Four programs store mode, duration and temperature. Auto-Degas and the temperature-controlled start are also part of the range of functions.

Display, timer and protective functions

A large display and a swipe-type membrane keypad with plus and minus keys form the controls. The duration ranges from 1 minute to 6 hours, the setpoint temperature from 25 to 80 °C, and the limit temperature can be set between 40 and 60 °C. With active heating, dry-run protection monitors the tank, and after 8 hours the unit switches off. With lid, the sound pressure level at a distance of 1 m is below 80 dB(A) and the ultrasonic pressure level below 110 dB. The unit meets protection rating IP20 and protection class I.

Placement within the Select series

The Elmasonic Select 40 has 3.9 litres, a tank of 215 x 115 x 145 mm and no drain. For longer items, the Elmasonic Select 80 has a tank of 475 x 110 x 145 mm, so more length with less depth, plus 600 W heating power. The Elmasonic Select 100 has the same length of 280 mm, but 220 mm depth and 9.5 litres total volume.
