ESAB OK Tigrod 12.64 TIG Welding Rod, G4Si1 / ER70S-6, Ø 2.0 x 1000 mm, 5 kg, 126420R150

Product information "ESAB OK Tigrod 12.64 TIG Welding Rod, G4Si1 / ER70S-6, Ø 2.0 x 1000 mm, 5 kg, 126420R150"

126420R150 is the OK Tigrod 12.64 with a diameter of 2.0 mm. The rods are 1000 mm long and come in packs of 5 kg. This filler metal belongs to the carbon-manganese steel group and is used for TIG welding of unalloyed and low-alloy steels. It is also available in thinner 1.6 mm versions, and thicker 2.4 mm and 3.2 mm versions.

Which steels are suitable

The rod is intended for root and fillet welds on unalloyed and low-alloy steels. These include general-purpose structural steels, fine-grained structural steels and pressure vessel steels. ESAB cites grades ranging from P235/S235 to P460/S460 as examples, with suitability tested down to -40 °C.

Typical applications

  • Root welds on unalloyed and low-alloy steels
  • Joint welds on general structural steels and fine-grained structural steels
  • Welds on pressure vessel steels with requirements down to -40 °C

Whether 2.0 mm is the correct diameter depends on the weld geometry and the current at the welding machine. Anyone wishing to carry out the same task with a different diameter will find the relevant series numbers in the table.

Approvals and classification

In accordance with EN ISO 636-A, the wire is designated W 4Si1 and the weld metal W 46 5 4Si1. The AWS designation in accordance with SFA A5.18 is ER70S-6. The following approvals are listed, depending on the plant location: ABS 3Y (I1), BV 3YM, CE EN 13479, DB 42.039.48, DNV-GL III YM (I1), LR 3Y H15 (I1), UKCA EN 13479 and VdTÜV 05260.

Mechanical properties

According to EN, the untreated weld metal has a yield strength of 525 MPa, a tensile strength of 595 MPa and an elongation at break of 26 per cent. The notched impact energy is 150 J (-40 °C) and 90 J (-50 °C). According to AWS testing, the values are 510 MPa, 610 MPa and 30 per cent. Welding is carried out using argon (I1, EN ISO 14175).
