If a batch requires more volume than a standard hotplate can accommodate, but at the same time does not require a heat source directly beneath the vessel, the Hei-PLATE Mix 20 l provides exactly this combination: stirring of up to 20 l without any heating function; according to the manufacturer, even the heat from the motor is not transferred to the work surface. The chassis is identical in construction to the Hei-PLATE Mix’n’Heat Core, but without the heating module, and covers a speed range from 100 to 1,400 revolutions per minute.

No heat input for heat-sensitive substances

For substances that are sensitive to heat, any additional source of temperature poses a risk, even the waste heat from a motor. The Hei-PLATE Mix 20 l is therefore deliberately designed without a heating function, ensuring that the base remains cool. A soft-start function gently brings the speed up to the set value, ensuring that the sample does not splash at start-up and the stirring rod does not veer off course.

Large Kera-Disk platform for 20 l

The 145-millimetre-diameter Kera-Disk platform, made of aluminium with a ceramic coating, is chemical-resistant and scratch-resistant, and can support samples weighing up to 25 kilograms. With a power consumption of just 25 watts in normal operation, energy usage remains low for a unit with this stirring capacity; in standby mode, it drops to 1.7 watts. The external dimensions of 168 x 101 x 299 millimetres are consistent with the rest of the Hei-PLATE range, meaning the unit can be integrated into existing workstations without any modifications.

Electrical protection and environmental conditions

IP42 protection rating protects against foreign bodies larger than 1 mm and dripping water when tilted up to 15°; the sound pressure level is below 50 dB(A). The unit operates at 230 volts at 50 or 60 hertz in Europe and 115 volts in the USA, in each case via a connection with L, N and a protective earth conductor. The permissible operating range is from 5 to 31 degrees Celsius at up to 80 per cent relative humidity; above this, the permissible humidity decreases linearly down to 40 degrees Celsius.

Selection guide: smaller volume or with heating

If a 5-litre mixing volume is sufficient, the more compact Hei-Mix S is the smaller and simpler alternative. If a heating plate is required, the identically constructed chassis with a heating module, as the Hei-PLATE Mix’n’Heat Core, delivers temperatures up to 300 degrees Celsius; with additional digital Pt1000 control, it is available as the Hei-PLATE Mix’n’Heat Core+.
