Heidolph Hei-TORQUE Expert 400 Overhead Stirrer, Two-stage Gearbox, 400 Ncm, 501-64010-00

The Hei-TORQUE Expert 400 is the most powerful model in the Expert series and is designed for applications that would push a single-stage gearbox to its limits. A two-stage gearbox delivers the full torque of 400 Ncm for highly viscous media in the lower speed range between 10 and 400 rpm; in the second stage, it operates at 20 to 2,000 rpm for less viscous mixtures. It can therefore stir volumes of up to 100 l (H2O) and media with a viscosity of up to 250,000 mPas, twice the volume of the 100 and 200 models in the series.

Two-stage gearbox for a wide range of applications

Gear stage I covers the low-speed range with maximum torque, for example for viscous polymer solutions or paste-like substances. Stage II extends the range of application to faster stirring at lower viscosities. Switching between the stages eliminates the need for a second unit when processing media of varying viscosity within the same laboratory.

More power, higher power consumption

With a power consumption of 150 watts, the Expert 400 exceeds the smaller Hei-TORQUE models, which consume 90 and 120 watts respectively, a direct reflection of the higher drive power required for the greater torque. The weight increases accordingly to 5.3 kilograms, with dimensions of 93 x 350 x 247 millimetres, slightly wider than the 100 and 200 variants in the series.

Display and operation

As with the Expert 200, a 2.4-inch display shows the speed and torque trend values, whilst application parameters are set directly on the unit. USB and RS232 connect the Expert 400 to a PC or a higher-level control system; the supplied Hei-Control software logs data from up to four devices simultaneously.

Robust for everyday laboratory use

The EC motor is designed for continuous operation and remains below 70 dB(A). A KTY temperature monitor protects the motor from overheating; in the event of an overload, the unit switches off automatically with a visual indication. The start/stop function is touch-activated, which reduces the risk of accidental activation whilst handling the stand.

Stirring tool for highly viscous media

The quick-release chuck with safety ring accommodates stirring shafts with diameters ranging from 2.5 to 10.5 millimetres. For the high viscosities for which the Expert 400 is designed, anchor, blade and Visco-Jet agitators from the range of accessories are particularly suitable. The agitator is not included in the scope of delivery for the drive unit and is selected separately according to the application.

Selection guide: Expert 400 or Ultimate 400?

If you also require ramp programming for multi-stage processes, the Hei-TORQUE Ultimate 400 offers the same torque and gearbox. If a torque of 200 Ncm is sufficient, the Hei-TORQUE Expert 200 is the lighter and more affordable alternative from the same series. Heidolph Scientific Products GmbH, Schwabach, provides a 3-year manufacturer’s warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. This excludes glass and wear parts, damage caused during transport and damage resulting from improper use. If the instrument is registered with Heidolph, the warranty commences on the date of purchase; otherwise, it commences on the date of manufacture as indicated by the serial number. Your statutory warranty rights remain unaffected.
