Anyone who regularly handles six microtitre plates at the same time or also needs to temperature-control samples will find the smaller models in the Titramax range fall short. The Titramax 1000 retains the orbit and speed range of the Titramax 100, but increases the usable area to 290 x 258 millimetres and can be upgraded to a temperature-controlled system with the Incubator 1000 heating module.

Same orbit, larger surface area

The 1.5-millimetre circular vibrating orbit and the speed range of 150 to 1,350 revolutions per minute are the same as on the Titramax 100, but the working area increases from 220 x 220 to 290 x 258 millimetres. This means there is space for up to six microtitre plates at the same time, and the maximum permissible load increases to 5 kilograms. A rubber mat with recesses and spacing holds the plates securely and allows for convenient loading and unloading.

Expandable to an incubation system

The accessories section on the manufacturer’s website lists a heating module for the Titramax 1000, as well as a low and a high incubation hood. When combined with the Titramax 1000 heating module and an incubation hood, samples can be temperature-controlled whilst being shaken, for example, for applications requiring both agitation and heat simultaneously. Anyone wishing to purchase this combination as a ready-configured package will find it in the Titramax package. The smaller Titramax 100 does not have a link to the same accessories section; temperature control is therefore a unique selling point of the Titramax 1000 within the range.

Drive and operating data

The shaded-pole motor draws 25 watts and keeps the sound pressure level below 50 dB(A). A timer limits runs to a maximum of 120 minutes with an audible signal at the end; for longer processes, the unit continues to run in continuous operation. Weighing 8 kilograms and measuring 320 x 128 x 375 millimetres, the Titramax 1000 requires more floor space than the smaller models in the range. The same ambient temperature limits apply as for the smaller models: 5 to 31 degrees Celsius at up to 80 per cent relative humidity; at higher temperatures up to 40 degrees Celsius, the permissible humidity decreases linearly to 50 per cent. The unit is designed for installation at altitudes of up to 2,000 metres above sea level, as well as for overvoltage category II and pollution degree 2; it compensates for mains voltage fluctuations of up to 10 per cent without any loss of function.
