For the IKA UTTD control Tissue Solution disperser (MPN 0010013008), BMT-20-S-IVD single-use sample tubes are the refill consumable. Each tube contains stainless steel beads of 5 mm diameter that mechanically disrupt the sample material in the Tube Drive, a ball-mill working principle rather than rotor-stator dispersion. As a single-use, IVD-labelled article there is no cleaning between samples, which rules out cross-contamination between batches.
The two versions differ in their sterile packaging: the BMT-20-S-IVD.50 version has a membrane lid and is exactly the tube variant included in the delivery scope of the UTTD control Tissue Solution. The BMT-20-S-IVD1.50 version is recommended by IKA itself as a more affordable alternative for the same drive and is single sterile packaged, without a membrane lid.
