The IKA C-MAG HS 7 (MPN 0003581200) is far more than just an ordinary magnetic stirrer. It is the first choice for laboratories that work with acids, alkalis or solvents on a daily basis and require high temperatures at the same time. The standout feature of this unit is its square work surface made of solid glass-ceramic. Unlike heating plates made of aluminium or stainless steel, this surface offers virtually perfect chemical resistance. Even if corrosive substances spill over or evaporate, the plate remains undamaged, corrosion-free and is incredibly easy to clean.
Powerful heating up to 500 °C
With a heating power of 1000 watts and a temperature range of 50 to 500 °C, the C-MAG HS 7 covers an extremely wide range of applications. From gentle heating to demanding syntheses or the digestion of samples – this unit delivers the required energy quickly and efficiently. The ceramic plate ensures excellent heat transfer to the vessel. With a stirring capacity of up to 10 litres (H₂O) and a powerful motor enabling speeds of 100 to 1,500 rpm, the stirrer handles even larger batches with ease.
Safety comes first
Safety in the laboratory is essential, particularly at high temperatures. The C-MAG HS 7 features a fixed safety cut-off at 550 °C, which reliably switches the unit off in the event of overheating. An essential feature for user protection is the integrated ‘Hot Top’ warning indicator: A warning light remains illuminated as long as the surface temperature exceeds 50 °C – even when the unit is already switched off! This effectively prevents burns caused by accidentally touching the still-hot plate after finishing work. Furthermore, the control panel is raised to protect the electronics and controls from spilt liquids.
Precision through upgrade options
In the basic version, temperature and speed are set intuitively using analogue rotary controls with a scale (0–6). However, the C-MAG HS 7 offers a key advantage for precision applications: it features a socket compliant with DIN 12878 for connecting an electronic contact thermometer (e.g. IKA ETS-D5 or ETS-D6). Connecting this accessory transforms the analogue stirrer into a precise temperature control system. Control is then no longer based on the plate temperature, but directly on the temperature of the medium. This guarantees exact adherence to the target temperature without overshoot – ideal for sensitive reactions.
Ergonomic and robust design
The seamless construction of the ceramic plate (180 x 180 mm) prevents dirt from getting into crevices. The housing is robustly constructed and designed for long-term continuous use (protection class IP 21). The strong magnetic coupling ensures that the stirring bar is held securely even at higher speeds and does not ‘break away’.
