Ten litres of solution need to be stirred evenly, but do not necessarily need to be heated. For this application, the IKA C-MAG MS 7 (0003582400) is a magnetic stirrer without a heating function, featuring a ceramic base measuring 180 x 180 mm. It stirs up to 10 l of water at 100 to 1,500 rpm and can support up to 15 kg.
Stirring without heating
The speed is adjusted via a scale from 0 to 6; the motor has a power output of 1.5 W and rotates anti-clockwise. Stirring rods may be up to 80 mm long. The unit heats up only slightly during operation: at maximum speed, the temperature of the base rises by approximately 2 K after one hour at a room temperature of 22 °C. The unit’s power consumption is 30 W.
Base and control panel
The surface is made of ceramic; IKA describes it as having very good chemical resistance. The control panel is recessed, thus providing protection against spilt liquids. The housing measures 220 x 105 x 335 mm and weighs 5 kg. The protection rating is IP 21; relative humidity may be up to 80 per cent, and the ambient temperature must be between 5 and 40 °C. The mains voltage is 230 V at 50/60 Hz; other variants are available for 120 V and 100 V.
