IKA MINISTAR 40 digital Overhead Stirrer, up to 25 l, 40 Ncm, 0025004886

Product information "IKA MINISTAR 40 digital Overhead Stirrer, up to 25 l, 40 Ncm, 0025004886"

Positioned between the entry-level MINISTAR 20 and the MINISTAR 80, which offers the highest torque, is the IKA MINISTAR 40 digital: 25 litres stirring volume, 40 Ncm torque and a speed range of 50 to 1,000 rpm, designed for media with a viscosity of up to 30,000 mPas.

Mid-range model with performance reserve

With a power consumption of 60 watts and an output of 46 watts, the motor performance is in line with the rest of the MINISTAR range; the rated torque is 0.4 Nm. Compared with the MINISTAR 20 digital, the maximum torque is almost doubled, whilst the stirring volume increases by 10 litres. For formulations that become thicker during processing, the speed remains stable across the entire viscosity range.

Connection and housing

Measuring 70 x 193 x 147 mm and weighing 1.72 kg, the housing is identical to that of the MINISTAR 80 digital; only the internal gear ratio distinguishes the two models. The connected load is 69 watts (0.5 watts on standby); as with the entire series, the micro-USB port is used exclusively for firmware updates. The chuck accommodates tools from 0.5 to 8.2 mm; the hollow shaft, with an internal diameter of 8.5 mm, can be inserted whilst the machine is stationary.

Accessories for the MINISTAR series

For larger batches in plastic vessels, an anchor stirrer with a beaker scraper is available, which also picks up the medium from the vessel wall. The range of accessories also includes propeller, disc and centrifugal stirrers for different flow conditions, as well as telescopic and plate stands for mounting. For personal safety when working with an open stirring vessel, in addition to the R 300 included in the scope of delivery, a separately available R 301 stirring shaft guard with its own stand mount is provided. Those working in a regulated environment can order factory calibration certificates. The corresponding EU Declaration of Conformity is available in the downloads section of the product documentation, as are the German-language operating instructions.

Typical applications

  • Batches of up to 25 litres with increasing viscosity as the process progresses
  • Formulation development on a pilot scale
  • Homogenisation of thicker suspensions and pastes
  • Processes requiring greater power reserve than the MICROSTAR series can provide

Selection guide: MICROSTAR and MINISTAR at a glance

The MINISTAR 40 digital sits in the middle of the MINISTAR range, offering twice the torque of the MINISTAR 20 digital and half that of the MINISTAR 80 digital. The housing and motor are identical to those of the MINISTAR 80 digital; only the gear ratio distinguishes the two models:

IKA R 1330 Anchor Stirrer 0002022300
IKA R 1330 Anchor Stirrer, Ø 45 mm, Length 350 mm, for EUROSTAR and RW 20, 0002022300
Manufacturer number: 0002022300

The IKA R 1330 anchor stirrer (MPN 0002022300) is a stirring element made of stainless steel 1.4571 for overhead stirrers. It has a stirrer diameter of 45 mm and a shaft with a diameter of 8 mm and a length of 350 mm. It is intended for medium to highly viscous media that are stirred at low speeds, up to a maximum of 1,000 rpm.A polymer batch that sits thick in the vessel, or a mixture with a high mineral content that is to stay evenly distributed: the R 1330 is intended for tasks like these.Tangential flow of the anchor stirrer with a high shear rate at the edgeThe anchor stirrer moves the medium tangentially, that is, in the circumferential direction around the stirrer axis, and not axially like a propeller stirrer. The shear rate is high at the edge of the stirrer, and few deposits are left on the vessel wall. With viscous batches this matters, because material on the wall is withdrawn from the mixing process. It is used at low speeds. The stirrer diameter of 45 mm determines the minimum width of the opening of the stirring vessel.Typical applicationsHomogenising medium to highly viscous liquids in the laboratoryStirring in polymer reactionsEvenly distributing high mineral content in liquidsBatches where little material should be deposited on the vessel wallWorking at low speeds on an overhead stirrerSuitable for IKA overhead stirrers with an 8 mm chuckThe shaft with a diameter of 8 mm fits into chucks for an 8 mm shaft. These include the IKA overhead stirrers EUROSTAR 20, 40, 60, 100, 200 and 400 (digital and control), RW 20 digital as well as MINISTAR, MICROSTAR and NANOSTAR. In our range you will find EUROSTAR 20, 40, 60, 100, 200 and 400 digital, RW 20 digital, MINISTAR 20, 40 and 80 digital, MICROSTAR 7.5 digital and NANOSTAR 7.5 digital.Whether a stirrer drives the anchor stirrer safely in your medium depends on the viscosity and on the torque of the stirrer. The more viscous the batch, the more torque is required. Therefore check before purchase whether your device is sufficient for your batch and whether the chuck accepts a shaft of 8 mm.MaterialThe wetted parts of the R 1330 are made of stainless steel 1.4571. The weight of the stirrer is 0.151 kg.Technical detailsTypeAnchor stirrerStirrer diameter45 mmShaft diameter8 mmShaft length350 mmMaximum speed1,000 rpmFlowtangentialSuitable formedium to highly viscous mediaMaterial, wetted partsStainless steel 1.4571Weight0.151 kgMountChuck for 8 mm shaftScope of delivery1 x IKA R 1330 anchor stirrer (MPN 0002022300). The overhead stirrer is not included in the scope of delivery.Individual requirements and procurement serviceIf your medium requires a different flow pattern, we offer the IKA R 1342 propeller stirrer for the RW 20 digital, for low to medium viscosity liquids. A stirrer shaft protector, for example the IKA R 401, also fits the overhead stirrer setup. Our procurement service helps with the choice of the suitable stirring element and the overhead stirrer for your batch.

IKA R 301 Plexiglas stirrer shaft guard, length adjustable 190–310 mm, 0002603000
IKA R 301 Plexiglas stirrer shaft guard, length adjustable 190–310 mm, 0002603000
Manufacturer number: 0002603000

The IKA R 301 stirrer shaft guard (MPN 0002603000) is an essential mechanical safety component for the safe and accident-free operation of laboratory overhead stirrers. During intensive mixing, dispersing or homogenisation processes, considerable kinetic forces act on rotating stirrer shafts. This professional shaft guard forms a physical barrier that reliably protects laboratory staff from accidental contact with the rotating parts. It effectively prevents clothing, hair or laboratory gloves from being drawn in, making the safety device a key component in risk assessments and in implementing national and international health and safety requirements. Stepless length adjustment for flexible experimental set-ups From a process engineering perspective, the R 301 model excels thanks to its high degree of telescopic flexibility. The guard can be adjusted steplessly along its axis within a length range of 190 to 310 mm and locked into place precisely. This variable geometry allows for precise adaptation to different shaft lengths, vessel heights and varying immersion depths of the stirring elements. Laboratories thus benefit from a highly adaptable protective system that can be flexibly integrated into changing experimental set-ups without compromising workplace ergonomics. Unrestricted process control thanks to a high-quality Plexiglas matrix The cylindrical protective screen is made entirely from a high-purity, mechanically stable Plexiglas matrix. This material combines minimal weight with outstanding optical clarity. Laboratory staff are able to monitor the mixture, transient flow patterns, phase transitions or any delayed boiling in the sample vessel at all times without restrictions. At the same time, the Plexiglas structure offers effective protection against transient media splashes and can be cleaned quickly and without leaving any residue.
