Five samples, one experimental design and the question of whether all vessels really stir at the same speed. With the IKA RO 5, the answer is clear: the five stirring points operate synchronously, with a speed deviation of 0 % between them. The digital multi-position magnetic stirrer without heating stirs up to 0.4 l of water per position at 0 to 1,200 rpm. This allows serial tests to be carried out under comparable conditions.
Coil drive instead of a motor
The RO 5 operates with a coil drive. This is wear-free and runs silently, and according to IKA, the speeds remain constant even under load changes. The speed is set in 10 rpm increments via a membrane keypad; the direction of rotation can be reversed, and an error code display reports faults. The unit is designed for continuous operation.
Enclosed design and Eco Mode
The housing is enclosed and compact, with a surface made of 1.4301 stainless steel. This facilitates cleaning and, according to IKA, protects the interior from liquid ingress. The IP rating is IP 40 in accordance with DIN EN 60529. Eco Mode keeps surface heating to a minimum. According to IKA, a removable, transparent anti-slip film is included in the scope of delivery. The stirring points are 90 mm apart, the plate measures 120 x 470 mm, and it can support loads of up to 5 kg. Suitable magnetic stir bars are 25 to 30 mm long, such as IKAFLON 25 or 30 in round, elliptical or cross shapes.

RO 5, RO 15 or a model with heating
Five stations are sufficient for manageable series. Those who regularly prepare multiple samples simultaneously will find that the IKA RO 15 offers 15 stations on a 280 x 470 mm platform. If the batches need to be heated, the IKA RT 5, with five stations, 175 W heating power and a temperature range from room temperature to 120 °C, is the alternative. For a single stirring station at 1,500 rpm, the C-MAG MS 4 is a suitable choice.
