Fifteen vessels on a single plate, all rotating at the same speed: That is the task of the IKA RO 15. The multi-position magnetic stirrer without heating accommodates 15 stirring positions on a stainless steel surface measuring 280 x 470 mm, with a spacing of 90 mm between the positions. Each station can hold up to 0.4 l of water, with speeds ranging from 0 to 1200 rpm. According to IKA, the variation between stirring stations is 0 per cent, and batch analyses are carried out under reproducible conditions.
One speed for all positions
The coil drive operates wear-free and silently. According to IKA, the rotational speeds at all stirring points remain constant even under load changes. Settings are adjusted via a membrane keypad in increments of 10 rpm. The direction of rotation can be reversed, an error code display reports faults, and the unit is suitable for continuous operation. Stirring rods 25 to 30 mm in length are used, for example IKAFLON 25 or 30 in round, elliptical and cross shapes.
Weight, load capacity and cleaning
Weighing 8.627 kg, the RO 15 is significantly heavier than the RO 5, which weighs 3.66 kg; however, the platform can support up to 15 kg instead of 5 kg. RO 15 in comparison
The RO 15 is suitable for laboratories that regularly run series with more than five samples. For smaller series, the RO 5 is sufficient. If the samples need to be heated simultaneously, the IKA RT 5, with 175 W heating power and a maximum temperature of 120 °C, is the right choice, although it has five positions instead of 15.
