The IKA ROTATEMP me-vi Package (MPN 0010014015) is the specialised all-in-one solution for measuring the viscosity of samples that are solid at room temperature or extremely viscous. Typical applications include the petrochemical industry (bitumen, asphalt), the food industry (chocolate, sweet paste) and plastics technology (hot-melt adhesives, waxes, polymers). This package seamlessly combines the tried-and-tested IKA ROTAVISC me-vi viscometer with the ROTATEMP high-temperature system to enable reproducible measurements under defined temperature conditions.

ROTATEMP: Precise heating for challenging samples

At the heart of this package is the ROTATEMP oven. Based on IKA’s tried-and-tested heating technology, it heats samples quickly and precisely up to 300 °C. An intelligent control system prevents the sample from overheating (‘overshoot’), which is crucial for reproducibility. The target temperature is reached in just approx. 16 minutes (when using silicone oil), which significantly reduces your process times in the laboratory.

ROTAVISC me-vi: The measurement specialist

The ROTAVISC me-vi is used as the measuring head. “me-vi” stands for “Medium Viscosity” and covers the ideal measuring range for the applications mentioned (100 to 40,000,000 mPas). The instrument impresses with its large 4.3" TFT display, intuitive menu navigation and maximum measurement accuracy (±1 % of the measurement range).

Automation and Documentation

Documenting the temperature profile is essential, particularly for temperature-dependent viscosity measurements. Both components – the viscometer and the heating unit – can be connected via the labworldsoft software ®. This allows you to run temperature ramps, record viscosity curves as a function of temperature and generate rheograms fully automatically.
