The IKA S 18 N - 19 G (MPN L004640) is the standard tool for coarse dispersion tasks with the popular drive units of the IKA T 18 series (e.g. T 18 digital ULTRA-TURRAX ®). This high-quality stainless steel tool covers a wide volume range from 10 ml to 1,500 ml (H₂O), making it the ideal choice for day-to-day sample preparation involving rapid grinding and mixing.

Toothed geometry (“G”) for optimal grinding

The letter “G” in the model designation stands for “coarse”. Unlike fine-tooth tools, the stator of this model features a coarse-toothed geometry with wider slots. This makes the S 18 N – 19 G the perfect choice for:

• Pre-grinding: Rapid breaking up of solid sample components in liquids.
• Coarse suspensions: Mixing in pigments or fillers.
• Viscous media: Processing of samples that would be too viscous for finer tools or could cause them to become blocked. It operates extremely efficiently and ensures homogeneous distribution in the shortest possible time.

Durable PTFE bearing (“N”)

The rotor shaft is mounted in a high-quality PTFE (Teflon) bearing. This choice of material (“N”) offers crucial advantages in everyday laboratory use: PTFE is chemically almost inert. This means you can use the tool without hesitation with aggressive solvents, acids and alkalis without the bearing being damaged. Important application note: PTFE bearings rely on the medium for lubrication and cooling. The instrument must therefore not be allowed to run dry, as the frictional heat would otherwise destroy the bearing.

Hygiene and material quality

Manufactured from electropolished stainless steel (AISI 316L), the tool meets the highest hygiene standards. It is robust, corrosion-resistant and durable. For applications in the medical or microbiological fields, the S 18 N - 19 G can be easily dismantled and fully sterilised – whether by chemical disinfection, hot air or in an autoclave (wet sterilisation). This guarantees germ-free processes and prevents cross-contamination between different sample batches.
