The S 25 N - 18 G - ST dispersing tool (MPN 0004447300) expands the range of applications for your IKA T 25 disperser (e.g. T 25 digital or T 25 easy clean) by adding a crucial capability: the effective comminution of fibrous and tough structures. Whilst conventional rotor-stator systems often become clogged with long-fibre samples or merely wrap the fibres around the rotor, this specialised tool reliably cuts them into small pieces. It covers a working volume range of 10 ml to 1,500 ml (H₂O), making it ideal for sample preparation in biology, food chemistry or environmental analysis.
Sawtooth technology (“ST”) for maximum cutting efficiency
The abbreviation “ST” stands for “Saw Tooth”. If you look closely at the generator head, you can see its distinctive geometry: the stator ring is not only slotted but also features a serrated cutting edge. In combination with the high-speed rotating blade rotor, the system acts like a pair of extremely efficient scissors. This design makes the tool ideally suited to demanding tasks such as:
- Tissue disruption: shredding of muscle tissue, tendons or skin in medical diagnostics.
- Plant samples: homogenisation of leaves, roots or fibrous vegetables (e.g. asparagus, leeks).
- Material analysis: Processing of paper, pulp or textile samples.
Durable and chemical-resistant thanks to PTFE bearing (“N”)
Like all “N” tools in the S 25 series, this model is also fitted with a high-quality PTFE bearing. PTFE (Teflon) is chemically almost inert and easily withstands aggressive acids, bases and solvents. This makes the tool universally applicable, regardless of the dispersing medium. Important note: As PTFE bearings rely on the medium for lubrication and cooling, the tool must not be allowed to run dry. Running dry would lead to immediate overheating and destruction of the bearings.
Pharmaceutical-grade stainless steel
The shaft and the generator elements are made of high-quality stainless steel (AISI 316L). This material is not only robust and rust-resistant, but also meets all hygiene requirements for use in the laboratory. The tool is designed for temperatures up to 180 °C and can be completely dismantled for cleaning. For sterile applications, the entire tool can be autoclaved (wet sterilisation) or sterilised with hot air, which effectively prevents cross-contamination.
Easy replacement and cleaning
Thanks to the standardised coupling, the S 25 N - 18 G - ST can be fitted to all drives in the T 25 range in a matter of seconds. It can be dismantled for cleaning without the need for special tools, ensuring that fibre residues can be safely removed from the cutting head.

Individual requirements & accessories
If you need to process extremely hard samples (e.g. tablets, bones), we may recommend using a pre-processing mill (e.g. IKA Tube Mill) instead of the cutting tools. For standard emulsions without fibres, it is better to use the classic “G” or “F” variant without a sawtooth edge. Please contact our procurement service for application advice.
