IKA S 50 N - G 45 G - ST dispersing tool, sawtooth design, 0008039500

Product information "IKA S 50 N - G 45 G - ST dispersing tool, sawtooth design, 0008039500"

The IKA S 50 N - G 45 G - ST dispersing tool represents a high-purity and extremely powerful fluid-mechanical system solution for the professional comminution, homogenisation and suspension of demanding sample media on a laboratory and pilot-plant scale. This precision-manufactured rotor-stator system has been specifically validated for use with the high-performance IKA dispersing drives of the ULTRA-TURRAX T 50 series. In complex processes within the pharmaceutical processing industry, food analysis, biotechnology or pulp research, the disruption of viscous, fibrous or elastic sample structures is the primary criterion for producing homogeneous suspensions in a gentle and time-efficient manner for subsequent analytical steps.

Fluid-mechanical comminution via sawtooth geometry

The process-engineering heart of the tool is the generator in a special ST (Saw Tooth) design. The distinctive geometry of the saw teeth on the rotor and stator generates extremely high mechanical impact, cutting and shear forces in the transient shear gap. This mechanical kinetics is ideally designed to cut and disintegrate fibrous matrices – such as tissue structures, plant parts, tobacco, paper and wood pulps, as well as tough plastics or viscous emulsions – in a flash. Uncontrolled wrapping of fibres around the shaft is prevented by the flow-optimised tooth arrangement, ensuring gentle handling of the material and process reliability.

Material-related inertness and uncompromising sterilisability

The materials science design of the dispersing rod is consistently optimised for maximum chemical resilience and absolute freedom from contamination. All functional elements in contact with the medium are made of high-purity, stainless steel grade 1.4404 (AISI 316L). The shaft is supported by an extremely low-friction and wear-resistant PTFE bearing system. This combination of materials allows for continuous use in aggressive acids, alkalis and organic solvents. To ensure a sterile sampling environment and to completely rule out cross-contamination in multi-user operation, the entire tool can be easily sterilised in an autoclave or cleaned gently with standard disinfectants.

Process reliability and convenient system integration

The mechatronic system architecture guarantees safe and vibration-free power transmission even at maximum speeds of up to 10,000 revolutions per minute. The dispersing shaft can be quickly and tool-free secured in the T 50 digital drive via the standardised connection. Thanks to the generous immersion depth of up to 250 mm and the fluid-mechanical geometry, the tool is certified for a wide working volume ranging from 0.5 to 20 litres (based on water). This offers laboratory managers and industrial users maximum flexibility when scaling up processes from research to pilot plant scale.

Individual requirements & accessories

To get the most out of the IKA S 50 N - G 45 G - ST tool, we recommend using it with the original ULTRA-TURRAX T 50 digital dispersing drive. To ensure a safe and vibration-free setup at your laboratory workstation, our range includes suitable telescopic stands (R 2722 or R 2723), robust cross-sockets (R 271) and practical vessel holders (RH 5). Should you wish to process samples requiring finer final homogenisation, we also offer alternative IKA generator heads with medium (M) or fine (F) toothing. For the regular replacement of wear parts, we stock original PTFE replacement bearings. Please use our technical procurement service to put together your complete homogenisation system.

If a process in a beaker reaches its limits because 2 litres suddenly need to become 20, a drive with more power and a longer arm is required – but without having to switch to a completely different system. The T 50 digital ULTRA-TURRAX covers precisely this transition, from 0.25 to 30 litres (H₂O), with a speed range of 600 to 10,000 revolutions per minute. As with the smaller model, this is a drive unit only, without a dispersing tool.Constant speed even with varying viscosityThe electronic speed control maintains the set value even if the viscosity changes during the batch, with a maximum permissible viscosity of 5,000 mPas. A soft start reduces the start-up load, whilst electronic overload protection and an error code display ensure reliable operation. Without an attachment fitted, the noise level is 72 dB(A); the speed itself is displayed via an LED and can be adjusted continuously.Powerful drive for larger volumesWith a power input of 1,100 watts and an output of 700 watts, the T 50 digital significantly outperforms the smaller T 25 digital; the extension arm measures 16 millimetres in diameter and 220 millimetres in length. Measuring 115 x 355 x 139 millimetres and weighing 5.85 kilograms, the machine can still be guided by hand. It operates on 220 to 240 volts at 50 or 60 hertz; a voltage variant of 100 to 120 volts is also available. It has an IP 20 protection rating in accordance with DIN EN 60529, and is suitable for ambient temperatures of 5 to 40 degrees Celsius with up to 80 per cent relative humidity.Tool change using the supplied wrenchesA socket wrench for changing the shaft and another for changing the dispersing tool are supplied with the drive unit; the dispersing tool itself is not included and must be selected to suit the application. The range includes, amongst others, the stainless steel tools S 50 N – G 45 G (Ident 0008003000) and S 50 N - G 45 F (ID 0008003900); the R 1405 propeller (ID 0001289800) for axial flow; and the R 1402 dissolver (ID 0001243300) for radial flow. The S 50 N – W 80 SMK jet mixing head (ID 0008006300) is also suitable for dispersion tasks requiring high shear. For stationary operation, the H-stand R 2722 (ID 0001412000) with cross-sleeve R 271 (ID 0002664000) is available.Typical applicationsScale-up of laboratory formulations to pilot plant volumesHomogenisation of suspensions and emulsions up to 30 litresPilot trials prior to scaling up to production scaleInterchangeable rotor-stator assemblies depending on the applicationSelection guide: smaller, larger or as a complete setThose working at a laboratory scale of up to 2 litres are better served by the more compact T 25 digital ULTRA-TURRAX drive unit or the T 25 digital Solution complete set; for even smaller batches, the T 18 brushless digital is suitable. If requirements exceed 30 litres, or if a three-phase connection is available anyway, the T 65 digital ULTRA-TURRAX can handle volumes of up to 50 litres.Technical detailsMotor power input / output1,100 W / 700 WProcessable volume (H₂O)0.25 to 30 lMax. viscosity5,000 mPasSpeed range600 to 10,000 rpm, continuously variable (1 per cent deviation)Speed displayLEDNoise level (without tools)72 dB(A)Boom diameter / boom length16 mm / 220 mmProcess typebatchPermissible duty cycle100 %Permissible ambient temperature range / humidity5 to 40 °C / 80 % (up to 31 °C), decreasing linearly to 50 % at 40 °CProtection classIP 20 in accordance with DIN EN 60529Rated power220 to 240 V, 50/60 Hz, 1,100 W (additional voltage variant 100 to 120 V available)Dimensions (W x H x D)115 x 355 x 139 mmWeight5.85 kgContentsT 50 digital ULTRA-TURRAX drive unitSocket wrench for changing the shaftSocket wrench for tool changeA dispersing tool is not included and must be selected separately to suit the specific application.Regulatory informationThis unit is an electrical appliance within the meaning of the German Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG).
