Anyone introducing the T 18 series for the first time who does not yet have a suitable dispersing tool or stand in stock will waste time placing a separate order from the range of accessories. The T 18 brushless digital Solution combines the T 18 brushless digital drive unit with the tool, shaft and stand to form a starter set that is ready for immediate use.

What’s included in the set

In addition to the drive unit, the set includes the S 18 N - 19 G dispersing tool (ID No. 000L004640), a reusable stainless steel tool with a diameter of 19 millimetres. For stationary operation, the set also includes an R 1826 plate stand (ID No. 0003160100) and an R 182 cross sleeve (ID No. 0002657700), so that the drive unit can be attached directly to the stand without having to order these parts separately.

Brushless drive as in the standalone unit

The drive unit is technically identical to the separately available T 18 brushless digital (ID No. 0020102476): 400 watts input power and 300 watts output power, a brushless DC motor and a continuously adjustable speed between 3,000 and 25,000 revolutions per minute. The processable volume ranges from 0.001 to 1.5 litres at a maximum viscosity of 5,000 mPas; both are indicated via LEDs. Without a tool attached, the noise level is 70 dB(A); the extension arm measures 13 millimetres in diameter and 160 millimetres in length.

For higher hygiene and compliance requirements

The brushless motor operates without carbon brushes, which reduces wear and tear and facilitates hygienic cleaning between batches. A timer with LED display supports reproducible process steps, whilst a quick-release coupling allows tool changes to be carried out without the need for tools. A micro-USB interface connects the set to a computer for remote control and experiment documentation using labworldsoft.

Accessories beyond the set

If the supplied S 18 N - 19 G is not sufficient for individual samples, further dispersing tools from the S-18 series are available, such as the smaller S 18 N - 10 G or disposable plastic tools like the S 18 D - 10 G - KS and S 18 D - 14 G - KS for switching between samples without the need for cleaning. For regulated environments, IKA also offers factory calibration certificates and IQ/OQ documentation for instrument and process qualification, which can be compiled on request via the procurement service.

Selection guide: Set, standalone unit or more compact model?

Those who already own their own dispersing tools and a stand will save money by opting for the T 18 brushless digital drive unit alone rather than this set. For smaller volumes and lower viscosities, the more compact T 18 mini digital ULTRA-TURRAX is often sufficient. Those working with larger batches of up to 2 litres from the outset will find the T 25 digital ULTRA-TURRAX in the T-25 series to be the suitable larger drive unit.
