Product information "Kern CIB 3K-4 Counting Balance, 3 kg / 0.2 g, Audible and Visual Alerts"
The Kern CIB 3K-4 counts parts weighing from 1 g and weighs items up to 3 kg with a readability of 0.2 g. It also displays the count result via the colour of the backlight and the pitch of an audible signal. Kern recommends it for workshops for people with disabilities, for particularly noisy or quiet environments, and for workplaces with frequently changing operators.
Colour and sound indicate the result
When portioning, dosing and sorting, the colour of the display changes depending on the count result, indicating ‘too few’, ‘correct’ or ‘too many’. The backlight can glow blue, yellow, green or red. The audible signal changes its frequency according to the same pattern. Both can be used individually or together, visually and/or audibly, depending on whether the workplace is noisy or quiet.
Direct-access keys and memory
20 freely assignable direct keys call up frequently used reference weights and PRE-TARE values. In total, the balance stores 50 reference weights and PRE-TARE values. The keypad can also be used to enter a desired reference quantity or a known reference weight. Automatic reference optimisation gradually improves the average piece weight. Three displays with 18 mm digit height show the weight, reference weight and total count; the count total memory adds identical items to the total count and total weight.
Weighing and counting up to 3 kg
At the touch of a button, the balance switches from counting mode to weighing mode. Reproducibility and readability are both 0.2 g, linearity is ± 0.6 g, and the stabilisation time under laboratory conditions is 2 seconds. The warm-up time is 30 minutes. The minimum piece weight is 1 g, 100 mg under laboratory conditions, and the counting resolution is 30,000. The stainless steel platform measures 315 x 215 mm, and the load cell is protected to IP65. Calibration is carried out externally using a 3 kg weight of class M1. The DAkkS calibration has item no. 963-127.
Battery and lighting
Kern describes the balance as portable thanks to its battery operation and compact, lightweight design (net weight 3.6 kg). With the backlight switched off, Kern specifies an operating time of 160 hours; the charging time is 14 hours. The backlight switches off after 5 seconds; this power-saving feature can be deactivated. The mains adaptor operates at 100 to 240 V and 50/60 Hz; adaptors for the EU, UK and Switzerland are included.
Typical applications
- Workshops for people with disabilities and workplaces with changing operators
- Noisy or quiet environments with colour or audio signals
- Inventory and counting of items weighing from 1 g up to a total weight of 3 kg
- Portioning, dosing and sorting with target display
- Filling quantity control via PRE-TARE values on the direct-access keys
The Kern CPB 6K0.1N has a wider weighing range of 6 kg with a readability of 0.1 g, whilst the Kern CXB 30K2 offers an even wider range of 30 kg with a readability of 2 g.
Frequently asked questions
How can you tell the weighing result without looking at the display? Via the colour of the backlight and the frequency of the audible signal. Both indicate ‘too little’, ‘correct’ or ‘too much’.
How many reference values can be stored? Up to 50 reference weights and PRE-TARE values, 20 of which can be assigned to freely programmable direct-access keys.
How big is the weighing surface? 315 x 215 mm, made of stainless steel, with an IP65-rated load cell.
Can the scale also weigh normally? Yes; at the touch of a button, it switches from counting mode to weighing mode.
