Product information "Kern PCB 300-2 Compact Laboratory Balance, 300 g / 0.01 g, Stainless Steel Weighing Pan, Ø 105 mm"
The Kern PCB 300-2 weighs up to 300 g and has a readability of 0.01 g, i.e. one centigram. Its stainless steel weighing plate has a diameter of 105 mm, making it larger than the plastic plate on the sister models with a readability of 0.001 g.
Accuracy in the centigram range
Repeatability and readability are both 0.01 g, whilst linearity is ± 0.02 g. Under laboratory conditions, the reading stabilises after 3 seconds. The balance should be allowed to warm up for 120 minutes before the first weighing. Kern specifies 20 g as the minimum weight in accordance with the USP. An anti-shock system between the weighing plate and the load cell reduces vibrations during weighing; the housing is made of plastic and measures 163 x 245 x 65 mm. The display features 21 mm high digits with backlighting. A spirit level and adjustable screw feet are included and help to level the balance on the table.
Tolerance weighing and piece counting
When weighing within a tolerance range (checkweighing), a visual signal assists with portioning, dosing and sorting. Users who wish to make the signal more visible can use the optional CFS-A03 signal lamp. The balance also counts items: The minimum piece weight is 200 mg, or 20 mg under laboratory conditions, with a counting resolution of 15,000. The PRE-TARE function allows a known container weight to be subtracted in advance, whilst the recipe function is used to weigh in several ingredients one after the other.
Adjustment
The balance is adjusted using an external weight. Kern recommends M1-class calibration weights of 200 g and 100 g, totalling 300 g. The DAkkS calibration certificate has the item no. 963-127.
Interfaces and software connectivity
The PCB 300-2 features a KUP slot. RS-232 (KUP-01), USB device (KUP-03), Ethernet (KUP-04), Wi-Fi (KUP-05) and Bluetooth BLE 4.0 (KUP-06) are available as plug-in adaptors; the KUP-13 extension box can operate up to three of these in parallel. Using the Kern Communication Protocol (KCP), the balance can be queried and remotely controlled from a computer.
Typical applications
- Weighing up to 300 g with a resolution of 0.01 g
- Tolerance weighing for portioning, dosing and sorting
- Weighing mixtures according to a recipe
- Piece counting from 200 mg per piece
- Data transfer to a PC, printer or network
Which PCB is suitable?
The Kern PCB 200-3 operates with a readability of 0.001 g and a weighing range of 200 g, whilst the Kern PCB 300-3 has a weighing range of 360 g. The Kern PCB 2000-1 has a significantly larger weighing range of 2,000 g with a readability of 0.1 g. The PCB 300-2 falls somewhere in between: a 300 g weighing range, 0.01 g readability and a stainless steel platform.
Frequently Asked Questions
What material is the weighing plate made of? Stainless steel, 105 mm in diameter.
Which calibration weights does Kern recommend? 200 g and 100 g of class M1, totalling 300 g. Calibration is carried out externally.
How long does the balance run on battery power? Kern specifies 20 hours; 48 hours with the backlight switched off. The rechargeable battery is optional and takes 8 hours to charge.
Is the display protected against dust or water? The display does not have an IP rating. The maximum permissible relative humidity during operation is 80 per cent.
