Not every treatment couch or beauty chair requires the full width of a standard examination table. The Meditrade Rollicel couch cover, in its narrower width variant, is a 2-ply roll made from 100 per cent cellulose, bleached without chlorine, measuring 39 cm in width and 50 m in length, providing 135 tear-off sheets, each 370 mm long. It is sold in a box of 9 rolls and is suitable for treatment areas where a more compact roll width is sufficient.

Roll width exactly matches the nominal dimension

With this width variant of the Rollicel range, the nominal dimension and the measured width match: The original data sheet specifies the roll height as 390 mm, i.e. exactly 39 cm, without the deviation that exists between the nominal dimension and the measured width in the case of the wider 50-cm sister roll. The roll length is 50 m, comprising 135 sheets, each 370 mm long, ensuring a consistent strip length when torn along the perforation.

2-ply with documented tear strength

With a basis weight of 16 g/m² and a dry tear strength of 26.48 N/m, tested in accordance with ISO 9073, the two-ply version offers sufficient stability for multiple daily changes. As is customary with paper and non-woven products, the manufacturer specifies a production-related tolerance of ±5 per cent for weight and dimensions. Weighing 0.65 kg per roll, with an outer diameter of 13 cm and an inner core diameter of 4.0 cm, the narrower roll is noticeably lighter than the 50-cm version, which weighs 0.82 kg, which makes transport and storage easier in smaller practices.

Disposable rather than fabric

Unlike a fabric treatment table cover, which must be washed and dried after every treatment, the Rollicel is simply torn off and disposed of after use. This eliminates both the washing cycle and the need to stock fabric covers, and as long as the cover is replaced after every appointment, there is no risk of residue being transferred between two treatments. This offers a significant organisational advantage over reusable textiles, particularly when dealing with tightly scheduled appointments in compact treatment areas.

Irritation- and allergen-free

According to the manufacturer, the material is irritation- and allergen-free, as well as free from mercury, lead, cadmium and chromium(VI) compounds, an important consideration given the direct, and in some cases frequently changing, skin contact involved. The version listed here is uncoated, meaning that liquid is absorbed across the entire surface of the roll.

With its narrower roll width, this Rollicel variant is particularly suitable for treatment areas that do not require the full width of the treatment couch:

• Dental practices, for the headrest or smaller storage areas on the treatment chair
• Beauty and nail salons with more compact treatment chairs instead of a full-width treatment couch
• Veterinary practices for smaller animals, where a narrower roll width is sufficient
• Mobile or space-saving treatment set-ups, where a lighter, more compact roll is easier to transport

For example, in a beauty salon, the cover on the treatment chair can be changed in a matter of seconds between two back-to-back appointments, without having to cut off an unnecessary amount of material from a wider roll for the narrower surface. Similarly, in small animal veterinary practices, the examination table can be quickly refitted with fresh covers between patients without the need for a wider roll designed for larger animals.

Sustainability and durability

The uncoated version bears the EU Ecolabel and is manufactured under a quality management system certified to EN ISO 13485:2016. When stored in a cool, dry place and protected from direct sunlight, the manufacturer specifies a shelf life of 5 years, which is sufficient for ordering a multi-year supply without any concerns regarding quality.

Packaging: Carton containing 9 rolls

The sales unit is the carton containing 9 rolls; 30 cartons make up one pallet. For practices with several compact treatment areas, it is advisable to stock up on several rolls at a time to avoid having to organise ad hoc replenishment whilst the practice is in operation. The packaging itself is made of cardboard and PE film and is registered in the Austrian collection and recycling system under the ARA exemption number 94130.
