Product information "Memmert CO2 incubator ICO180 NextGen, 177 L, 6.86-inch touch display"
Pre-order: The ICO180 is part of the new ICO NextGen range. It is available as a pre-order.
The Memmert ICO180 NextGen CO₂ incubator takes the place of the previous ICO150 in the new size range, but with an internal volume of 177 litres, it offers significantly more space than its predecessor, which had a volume of 156 litres. Those who have previously used the ICO150 for larger sample quantities will find the ICO180 offers noticeably more space, whilst occupying a comparable position between the medium-sized ICO105 and the large ICO240.
A touchscreen instead of two displays
Instead of the previous TwinDISPLAY with two separate TFT screens, the ICO180 NextGen displays actual and target values as well as parameter trends on a 6.86-inch IPS touchscreen with multi-touch functionality (480 x 1280 pixels).
Temperature and CO₂ control
The temperature can be set from +20 to +50 °C; the operating range extends from at least 5 °C above room temperature up to +50 °C, with a setting accuracy of 0.1 °C. At 37 °C, the temporal temperature fluctuation is ±0.1 K, and the spatial fluctuation is ±0.3 K. CO₂ control covers 0 to 20 % CO₂ as standard, with a setting accuracy of 0.1 % and a temporal fluctuation of ±0.2 % CO₂.
Humidity and O₂ as an extension
A stainless-steel water tray is supplied as standard. Option K7 extends the ICO180 to include active humidity control from 40 to 98 % rh, including a ‘rh off’ function, with a setting accuracy of 0.1 % rh, utilising a self-priming micro-dosing pump with a hot steam generator for humidification and a diaphragm pump for dehumidification. Option T6 (requires Option K7) additionally controls the oxygen concentration via nitrogen injection in the range 1 to 20 % O₂, with an accuracy of 0.1 %.
Six shelves and two glass doors optional
With up to 6 possible shelves, the ICO180 offers more loading flexibility than the smaller models in the series; 2 stainless steel perforated shelves are supplied as standard. Option K4 equips the interior with two glass-panelled doors instead of the solid stainless steel door, allowing a quick view inside the unit without completely altering the internal climate. An integrated battery storage unit (Option C2) keeps the display unit running without interruption in the event of a power cut, ensuring seamless documentation even during an outage.
Sterilisation without removing sensors
A pre-programmed cycle sterilises the interior in 60 minutes at +180 °C without the need to remove the sensors beforehand.
Interior and door
The deep-drawn interior is made of stainless steel grade 1.4301 (ASTM 304). The fully insulated stainless steel door closes with a 2-point compression lock and features an internal glass door; maximum load: 15 kg per shelf and 90 kg per unit.
Interfaces and software
The ICO180 NextGen features USB-C and Ethernet LAN. The chargeable software application myChamber LIMS is available for connection to a LIMS, whilst the connectivity package for the myChamber Monitoring App is available for permanent remote monitoring. For electronic signatures according to 21 CFR Part 11, the basic licence FDAQ1 for AtmoCONTROL FDA and myChamber Control FDA can be added. None of the three options is included as standard.
Operation and connected load specifications
The ICO180 NextGen is rated for 230 V, 50/60 Hz; Option X2 converts it to 115 V at no extra charge, and the power consumption is approximately 1,550 W. The textured stainless steel housing measures 748 x 793 x 689 mm (width x height x depth), plus a 50 mm allowance for the door handle; the internal dimensions are 600 x 590 x 500 mm. The net weight is 98 kg; when packed, it weighs 116 kg. Anyone wishing to stack two ICO180 units on top of one another can use a stacking kit (item no. B64732) or a mobile stacking kit with a raised base (item no. B68476).
Other sizes in the ICO NextGen series
In addition to the ICO180 (177 litres), we offer the ICO50 (56 litres) and the ICO105 (108 litres) for smaller batches, as well as the ICO240 (243 litres) for the highest throughput, each featuring the same operating concept.
Typical applications
With its large internal volume, controlled temperature and CO₂ concentration, the ICO180 NextGen is suitable for:
- Incubation of larger sample volumes or multiple experimental runs simultaneously
- Microbiological, pharmaceutical and biotechnological research with higher throughput
- Laboratory operations where glass doors (Option K4) allow visual monitoring without a complete change in the internal climate
- Stacked configuration of multiple units where floor space is limited (stacking kit accessory)

Regulatory information
Manufacturer’s WEEE registration number (Memmert GmbH + Co. KG, Stiftung EAR): DE 66812464. The ICO180 NextGen is not a medical device. Memmert is discontinuing the separate, previous ICOmed medical device series (last order 6 November 2026); according to Memmert, the ICO NextGen is currently undergoing testing and qualification to also meet the requirements for medical applications; this is an announcement, not an approval that has already been granted.
