The Memmert HPP410eco constant-climate chamber offers an internal volume of 384 litres and space for up to 14 shelves; temperature and humidity are controlled via a Peltier heating and cooling system that requires no compressor and no conventional refrigerant, with the same control range as the smaller models in the HPPeco range: 0 to 70 °C without humidity control, 5 to 70 °C with active humidity control between 10 and 90 % rh.

Peltier cooling even under heavy loads

Like the other HPPeco models, the HPP410eco heats and cools via a Peltier element integrated into the rear panel; there is no conventional refrigeration circuit with a refrigerant whatsoever. Two DIN Class A Pt100 sensors in a 4-wire configuration monitor each other and automatically take over the function of the other sensor in the event of a fault; with 14 possible racks and a total load of up to 200 kg, this is a crucial feature for long, unattended test runs. The setting accuracy is 0.1 °C; when exposed to light, the operating range narrows to 15 to 40 °C, with a maximum load of 20 kg per shelf.

Humidity control and ControlCOCKPIT TwinDISPLAY

Relative humidity is controlled between 10 and 90 % rh with an accuracy of 0.5 % rh; humidification is provided by a hot steam generator, whilst dehumidification is achieved via a cold trap using Peltier technology. The water supply is provided via an external canister with a connecting hose and a self-priming pump; a fixed water connection is not required. The chamber is operated via the ControlCOCKPIT TwinDISPLAY, which features two TFT colour graphic displays; an Ethernet interface and AtmoCONTROL software are available for documenting multiple parallel test programmes. The SetpointWait function ensures that the test time only begins once the temperature and humidity have actually reached the setpoint.

Differences: HPPeco or ICH110?

The Memmert ICH110 climate chamber covers a wider temperature range from –10 to +60 °C and uses a compressor-based, CFC-free R290 system with automatic defrosting; however, at 108 litres, it falls into a significantly smaller volume class than the HPP410eco. For test programmes that remain within the 0 to 70 °C range and process larger batch sizes in parallel, the Peltier technology of the HPP410eco, with a connected load of around 420 W, remains the more energy-efficient option compared to the ICH110’s approximately 1,350 W.

Installation, water connection and drainage

A minimum distance of 15 cm from the wall, a maximum distance of 20 cm from the ceiling and a minimum side clearance of 5 cm must be maintained; the unit may be installed at altitudes of up to 2,000 m above sea level at an ambient temperature of 16 to 40 °C and a maximum relative humidity of 70 per cent, non-condensing. A fixed water connection in the installation room is not required; the supplied water canister with connecting hose provides the water supply for the humidity control.
