Memmert IF450bw ceiling heater, 449 L, +80 °C, Class I medical device

With an internal capacity of 449 litres, the Memmert IF450bw blanket warmer can heat significantly larger quantities of non-sterile cloths and blankets simultaneously, at temperatures ranging from +20 to +80 °C. Up to 8 trays can be loaded at the same time, making the unit ideal for facilities with a high, continuous demand for pre-warmed textiles, without the need for constant replenishment during operation.

Generous internal dimensions for high throughput

With internal dimensions of 1040 × 720 × 600 mm, the IF450bw accommodates up to 8 trays with a maximum total load of 300 kg; each tray can hold up to 30 kg. Two stainless steel wire racks are included as standard. An integrated 4-sided all-round heating system, combined with an electronically controlled, low-noise air circulation system set to a fixed 100 per cent, ensures even temperature distribution throughout the entire interior. With external dimensions of 1224 × 1247 × 784 mm (plus 56 mm for the door handle) and a net weight of around 161 kg, the unit is clearly designed as a stationary unit for continuous operation.

Precise control, documented calibration

An adaptive, multifunctional PID microprocessor controller with a TFT colour graphic display (SingleDISPLAY) controls the unit, whilst a DIN Class A Pt100 sensor with 4-wire measurement ensures a setting accuracy of 0.1 °C. The operating range extends from at least 10 °C, through room temperature, up to +80 °C. A factory calibration certificate at +37 °C is included as standard; the unit is manufactured in the Federal Republic of Germany. This allows the measurement accuracy to be verified ex works, without the need to commission a separate calibration prior to commissioning.

Safety and self-diagnosis

The IF450bw monitors the temperature electronically and additionally via a mechanical temperature limiter. An integrated self-diagnostic system detects faults at an early stage and reports them immediately on the display, so that maintenance requirements can be identified in good time before ongoing operations are noticeably affected.

Certified safety as a medical device

The IF450bw is a Class I medical device and is certified accordingly to VDE, GS, CE and UL standards. This classification is lower than that of the Memmert hot-air sterilisers in the SF and SN series, which are classified as Class IIb medical devices because the latter are used directly for sterilisation. For organisations that prioritise tested, documented equipment safety, the Class I classification is an additional mark of quality.

The right size for every requirement

The IF450bw is positioned within Memmert’s IF-bw ceiling-mounted heater range between the mid-range model IF260bw (256 litres) and the largest model IF750bw (749 litres). All models share the same SingleDISPLAY control technology and operating logic, meaning that a facility with growing requirements can switch to a larger size within the range without any major changes.

Cost-effective operation at 230 V or 115 V

With a connected load of around 1800 W at 230 V or around 1500 W at 115 V, the IF450bw can be operated depending on the power supply available at the site of use. The electronic control system automatically adjusts the heating output to maintain the setpoint precisely, regardless of the selected mains voltage, even when fully loaded with up to 300 kg of textiles.

Ready for dispatch

For transport, the IF450bw is designed with packaging dimensions of 1,330 × 1,440 × 1,050 mm; the gross weight, including the carton, is approximately 227 kg. These specifications help in the early planning stages for delivery and installation, for example when door widths, access routes or lift capacities at the destination need to be taken into account in advance.
