Memmert Paraffin Oven UN55pa, 53 l, +20 to +80 °C, TwinDISPLAY

The Memmert UN55pa paraffin oven has 53 litres of interior and sits in the paraffin oven series between the compact UN30pa and the larger UN75pa. The nearly gas-tight interior heats paraffin and other embedding media evenly in the range from +20 to +80 °C, controlled via two redundant Pt100 sensors on the TwinDISPLAY. Up to four shelves fit in the interior, one of which is part of the scope of delivery.

Design and interior

The interior measures 400 x 400 x 330 mm, and the housing measures 585 x 784 x 514 mm externally plus 56 mm for the door handle. The fully insulated stainless steel door closes via 2-point locking as a compression door seal. The interior is easy to clean, stiffened by deep-drawn ribbing and has protected, integrated 4-sided all-round heating, and the housing has a fully galvanised sheet steel rear wall. A total load of up to 80 kg is permitted with a maximum of 20 kg per shelf.

HeatBALANCE and temperature monitoring

With HeatBALANCE, the heating power distribution between the upper and lower heating group can be adjusted from -50 to +50 per cent. Two DIN class A Pt100 sensors in 4-wire measurement monitor each other and take over the function of the other in the event of a fault, and control is via the ControlCOCKPIT TwinDISPLAY with two TFT colour graphic displays. A mechanical temperature limiter of protection class 1 according to DIN 12880 switches off the heating at about 20 °C above the maximum oven temperature, optionally supplemented by an adjustable temperature monitor of protection class 3.1 or an adjustable temperature limiter of protection class 2. AutoSAFETY additionally monitors the upper and lower limit with a visual and audible alarm, and a self-diagnosis system supports fault finding.

Guide to choosing by sample volume

Anyone who regularly embeds larger batches will find more capacity in the UN75pa with 74 litres or the UN110pa with 108 litres, see the size table below. For individual samples or small series with less space requirement, the UN30pa with 32 litres is the more compact alternative.

Difference from the UN55 universal oven

With the same internal volume of 53 litres, the universal oven UN55 goes up to +300 °C and is controlled via a SingleDISPLAY. The UN55pa stops at a maximum of +80 °C, but with two Pt100 sensors on the TwinDISPLAY, HeatBALANCE and a nearly gas-tight interior for paraffin and other embedding media.

Typical applications

With 53 litres of internal volume, the UN55pa is suitable for sample preparation in histology, pathology and microbiology as well as for evenly heating embedding media such as paraffin or wax.
