With a capacity of 1,060 litres, the Memmert UF1060 universal oven is the largest model in the entire UF range and is designed for batches that cannot be accommodated even in the 749-litre floor-standing model. The temperature range extends from 20 to 300 °C, and the electronically controlled air turbine actively distributes the heat throughout the spacious interior. A notable feature is the permissible load per shelf of up to 60 kg – three times that of the smaller UF models – which makes the UF1060 suitable for heavy workpieces and components. Fitted with castors that can be moved and locked, the cabinet – which weighs around 252 kg – can be moved around the laboratory or production hall despite its size.

Forced air circulation in the largest model of the series

With an internal volume of 1,060 litres, active air circulation is practically essential for even heat distribution. The UF1060’s air turbine, which can be electronically controlled in 10 per cent increments, ensures that the operating temperature range – from at least 10 °C above room temperature up to 300 °C – is reliably achieved, even with densely packed, heavy batches. A DIN Class A Pt100 temperature sensor with a 4-wire measurement system provides a setting accuracy of 0.1 °C up to 99.9 °C and 0.5 °C from 100 °C upwards, regardless of the load. Preheated fresh air is introduced via an electronically adjustable exhaust air damper; the exhaust air outlet with throttle valve can also be controlled electronically.

ControlCOCKPIT SingleDISPLAY for industrial use

The UF1060 is controlled via the ControlCOCKPIT SingleDISPLAY, an adaptive, multifunctional digital PID microprocessor controller with a high-resolution TFT colour graphic display. The following can be set: temperature in Celsius or Fahrenheit, the speed of the recirculation fan, the position of the exhaust air damper, the programme duration, as well as the time zone and summer/winter time. A digital countdown timer with target time can be set from 1 minute to 99 days; the SetpointWait function only starts the actual process time once the setpoint temperature has actually been reached – an important feature for long, unattended processes involving large batches. The integrated data logger can be read out, managed and organised via the Ethernet interface; a time-limited trial version of the AtmoCONTROL software is available for download.

Capacity and load-bearing capacity of the Memmert UF1060 universal chamber

The interior measures 1,040 x 1,200 x 850 mm and accommodates 2 electropolished stainless steel wire shelves as standard; a total of up to 14 shelves are possible, as with the UF750. The key difference lies in the load capacity: Whilst the UF750 permits 30 kg per shelf, the UF1060 allows up to 60 kg per shelf, whilst still maintaining a total load capacity of 300 kg. The external dimensions of the cabinet are 1,224 x 1,720 x 1,035 mm, and the net weight is approximately 252 kg. The interior consists of easy-to-clean stainless steel, reinforced with deep-drawn ribbing, featuring protected, integrated 4-sided all-round heating; the housing is made of textured stainless steel with a fully galvanised sheet steel rear panel. The UF1060 is connected to a 400 V three-phase supply and 3 x 230 V without a neutral conductor at 50/60 Hz, with a power consumption of around 7,000 W.

Selection guide: choosing the right size from the UF range

The Memmert UF range with forced-air circulation covers eight sizes, from 53 to 1,060 litres. When selecting the appropriate size, the footprint and the number of shelves required are key factors, alongside the internal volume itself.

The UF1060 sits at the top end of this range and offers the largest available capacity within the series. With the same footprint as the Memmert UF750 universal cabinet (1,224 × 784 mm base area), its greater depth provides around 300 litres more internal capacity and three times the load capacity per shelf. Those who can make do with 749 litres and 30 kg per shelf will save on depth and purchase costs with the UF750. Differentiation: SingleDISPLAY, TwinDISPLAY and natural convection

The UF1060 described here operates with SingleDISPLAY and a single Pt100 sensor. For unattended processes with higher safety requirements, the Memmert UF1060plus universal cabinet offers two redundant Pt100 sensors, the HeatBALANCE function and additional AutoSAFETY monitoring, each with two TFT displays instead of one. Memmert does not offer a natural convection variant of this size in the UN series as a 1,060-litre model; the largest natural convection model is the Memmert UN750 universal cabinet with a capacity of 749 litres. Safety in accordance with DIN 12880 for unattended operation

In addition to the adjustable electronic temperature monitoring, the UF1060 features a mechanical temperature limiter of protection class 1 in accordance with DIN 12880, which switches off the heating when the temperature reaches approximately 20 °C above the maximum cabinet temperature – an important safety feature for overnight or weekend runs. An integrated self-diagnostic system assists with fault-finding, whilst the calibration function allows three freely selectable temperature values to be readjusted. The unit bears the CE and EAC markings as well as a UL mark.

Installation, operation and disposal

For operation, a minimum distance of 15 cm from the wall and a maximum distance of 20 cm from the ceiling must be maintained; a minimum distance of 5 cm from the side of the wall or an adjacent unit is sufficient. Installation is permitted at altitudes of up to 2,000 m above sea level at an ambient temperature of 5 °C to 40 °C and a relative humidity of no more than 80 per cent, non-condensing. Electrically, the cabinet is designed for overvoltage category II and pollution degree 2; it must only be transported in an upright position. Thanks to its castors, the UF1060 can still be moved within these specifications even after installation.
