Memmert UF110 Universal Oven, compact heating and drying oven with forced circulation, 108 litres, up to 300 °C

For those wishing to upgrade from a small benchtop unit to a model with significantly greater capacity without having to install a floor-standing cabinet straight away, the Memmert UF110 universal cabinet offers the ideal intermediate solution: 108 litres’ internal volume, a temperature range of 20 to 300 °C and an electronically controlled fan for active heat distribution. With up to 5 shelves and a maximum total load capacity of 175 kg, the UF110 meets the needs of many laboratories that regularly dry or temper several small to medium-sized sample batches in parallel, without the cabinet taking up the floor space of a larger model.

Forced air circulation instead of natural convection: faster heating times

The UF110’s fan, which is electronically adjustable in 10 per cent increments, actively distributes heat throughout the interior, rather than simply allowing it to rise, as is the case with a natural convection oven. As a result, the UF110 reaches its operating temperature range from at least 10 °C above room temperature up to 300 °C, with shorter heating-up times than a comparable natural convection model, which achieves this without any air movement inside the chamber. A DIN Class A Pt100 temperature sensor with 4-wire measurement ensures a setting accuracy of 0.1 °C up to 99.9 °C and 0.5 °C from 100 °C onwards. Those running many different batches with varying setpoint temperatures will benefit from the active air circulation; dust-sensitive samples, on the other hand, are better suited to the natural convection version.

ControlCOCKPIT SingleDISPLAY and data acquisition

The UF110 is controlled via the ControlCOCKPIT SingleDISPLAY, an adaptive, multifunctional digital PID microprocessor controller with a high-resolution TFT colour graphic display. Settings include temperature in Celsius or Fahrenheit, the speed of the air circulation motor, the position of the exhaust air flap, the programme duration, as well as the time zone and summer/winter time. A digital countdown timer with target time can be set from 1 minute to 99 days; the SetpointWait function only starts the process time once the setpoint temperature has actually been reached. The data logger can be read out and managed via the Ethernet interface; a time-limited trial version of the AtmoCONTROL software is available for download.

Capacity and dimensions of the Memmert UF110 universal chamber

The internal dimensions are 560 x 480 x 400 mm; the external dimensions of the housing are 745 x 864 x 584 mm, and the net weight is approximately 74 kg. Two electropolished stainless steel grids are included as standard; a total of up to five shelves can be fitted. The maximum total load is 175 kg, with a maximum of 20 kg per shelf. The interior is made of easy-to-clean stainless steel, reinforced with deep-drawn ribbing, and features protected, integrated 4-sided all-round heating; the housing is made of textured stainless steel with a fully galvanised sheet steel rear panel. The UF110 can be connected either to 230 V (approx. 2,800 W) or to 115 V (approx. 1,800 W), in each case at 50/60 Hz.

Selection guide: choosing the right size from the UF range

The Memmert UF range offers eight models with internal volumes ranging from 53 to 1,060 litres. When selecting the right size, you should compare not only the volume but also the footprint and the maximum number of shelves.

The UF110 is the obvious choice when the Memmert UF75 universal cabinet (74 litres, 6 shelves with a smaller footprint) becomes too small for the sample volume, but a larger footprint is not yet available. Distinction: TwinDISPLAY variant and natural convection counterpart

The UF110 described here operates with SingleDISPLAY and a single Pt100 sensor. Those requiring redundant temperature monitoring for unattended runs will find this in the Memmert UF110plus universal cabinet, which features two Pt100 sensors, TwinDISPLAY, HeatBALANCE and AutoSAFETY. Those who can do without active air circulation – for example, because dust-sensitive samples are laid out in the open – will find the Memmert UN110 universal chamber, which features the same housing design but uses natural convection instead of an air turbine.

Safety in accordance with DIN 12880 for unattended operation

In addition to the adjustable electronic temperature monitoring, the UF110 features a mechanical temperature limiter of protection class 1 in accordance with DIN 12880, which switches off the heating when the temperature reaches approximately 20 °C above the maximum cabinet temperature – an important safety feature for runs carried out overnight or at weekends. An integrated self-diagnostic system assists with fault-finding, whilst the calibration function allows three freely selectable temperature values to be readjusted. The unit bears CE and EAC markings as well as a UL certification mark.

Installation, operation and disposal

For the operation of the UF110, a minimum clearance of 15 cm from the wall and a maximum clearance of 20 cm from the ceiling must be maintained; a minimum clearance of 5 cm is sufficient on the sides from the wall or an adjacent unit. Installation is permitted at altitudes of up to 2,000 m above sea level, at an ambient temperature of 5 °C to 40 °C and a relative humidity of no more than 80 per cent, non-condensing. Electrically, the cabinet is designed for overvoltage category II and pollution degree 2; it must only be transported in an upright position. As an electrical appliance, the UF110 is subject to the Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act at the end of its service life and must not be disposed of with household waste; see Regulatory Information below.
