Memmert UF160plus universal oven, heating and drying oven with forced air circulation and TwinDISPLAY, 161 litres, up to 300 °C

The Memmert UF160plus universal oven is a heating and drying oven from our range that offers the same 161-litre size as the UF160 with TwinDISPLAY: two redundant Pt100 sensors, HeatBALANCE and AutoSAFETY for processes where sensor failure is not an option. The temperature range extends from 20 to 300 °C, whilst up to 8 shelves and a maximum total load capacity of 210 kg provide ample capacity for routine laboratory operations.

Forced air circulation with redundant temperature measurement

The UF160plus’s air turbine, which can be controlled electronically in 10 % increments, actively distributes heat throughout the chamber and has a working temperature range from at least 10 °C above room temperature up to 300 °C. Two DIN Class A Pt100 sensors in a 4-wire configuration monitor each other; if one fails, the second automatically takes over its function. The setting accuracy is 0.1 °C up to 99.9 °C and 0.5 °C from 100 °C onwards. Preheated fresh air is introduced via an electronically adjustable exhaust air damper; the exhaust air outlet with throttle valve can also be controlled electronically.

ControlCOCKPIT TwinDISPLAY: HeatBALANCE and AutoSAFETY

The UF160plus is controlled via the ControlCOCKPIT TwinDISPLAY, which features two high-resolution TFT colour graphic displays. The HeatBALANCE function allows for fine-tuning of the heat output distribution between the upper and lower heating groups from -50 to +50 %, for example to compensate for temperature differences caused by unevenly distributed loads. AutoSAFETY also monitors over- and under-temperature conditions, automatically tracks the setpoint within a freely selectable tolerance range and triggers visual and audible alarms in the event of a deviation. Programmes are programmed, managed and transferred via the Ethernet interface or USB port using the AtmoCONTROL software. A programmable door lock and a door-open detection feature can be added as optional extras.

Capacity and dimensions of the Memmert UF160plus universal oven

The internal dimensions are 560 x 720 x 400 mm; the external dimensions of the housing are 745 x 1,104 x 584 mm, and the net weight is approximately 96 kg, identical to that of the base model UF160. Two electropolished stainless steel grid shelves are included as standard; up to eight shelves can be fitted in total. The permissible total load is up to 210 kg, with a maximum of 20 kg per shelf. The interior consists of easy-to-clean stainless steel, reinforced by deep-drawn ribbing, with protected, integrated 4-sided all-round heating; the housing is made of textured stainless steel with a fully galvanised sheet steel rear panel. The UF160plus can be connected either to 230 V (approx. 3,200 W) or to 115 V (approx. 1,800 W), in both cases at 50/60 Hz.

Selection guide: choosing the right size from the UF range

The eight-tier size range of the Memmert UF family with forced air circulation, each also available with TwinDISPLAY, offers an internal volume of between 53 and 1,060 litres. When selecting the appropriate size, the footprint and the number of shelves required are key factors, alongside the volume.

The UF160plus is the obvious choice when the Memmert UF110plus universal oven (108 litres, 5 shelves instead of 8) has reached its capacity limit, but there is not yet a significantly larger footprint available. Anyone who needs more capacity with a larger footprint will find this in the Memmert UF260plus universal oven (256 litres). Distinction: TwinDISPLAY versus SingleDISPLAY, and natural convection

Those who can do without sensor redundancy can save money by opting for the Memmert UF160 universal oven, which is identical in construction, in its basic version with SingleDISPLAY. For samples sensitive to dust or air movement that cannot tolerate active air circulation, the Memmert UN160plus universal oven offers the same housing with natural convection instead of an air turbine, and still features TwinDISPLAY. Those who require less internal volume will find the Memmert UF110plus universal oven, the more compact TwinDISPLAY model with the same footprint.

Safety according to DIN 12880, enhanced by AutoSAFETY

In addition to the adjustable electronic temperature monitoring and AutoSAFETY, the UF160plus is fitted with a mechanical temperature limiter of protection class 1 according to DIN 12880, which switches off the heating when the temperature reaches approximately 20 °C above the maximum cabinet temperature. The display also allows you to select either an adjustable temperature monitor (protection class 3.1) or an adjustable temperature limiter (protection class 2). An integrated self-diagnostic system assists with fault-finding, and three freely selectable temperature values can be calibrated. The unit bears CE and EAC markings as well as a UL test mark.

Installation, operation and disposal

For operation, a minimum distance of 15 cm from the wall and a minimum distance of 20 cm from the ceiling must be maintained; a minimum of 5 cm is sufficient on either side in relation to the wall or an adjacent unit. The unit may be installed at altitudes of up to 2,000 m above sea level at an ambient temperature of 5 °C to 40 °C and a relative humidity of no more than 80 %, non-condensing. Electrically, the UF160plus is designed for overvoltage category II and pollution degree 2; it must only be transported in an upright position. The interior, made of easy-to-clean stainless steel, can be cleaned using standard laboratory cleaning products. As an electrical appliance, the UF160plus is subject to the German Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG) at the end of its service life and must not be disposed of with household waste; see Regulatory information below.
