Memmert UF55plus Universal Oven, compact heating and drying oven with forced circulation and TwinDISPLAY, 53 litres, up to 300 °C

The Memmert UF55plus universal oven brings the series’ TwinDISPLAY safety features to the smallest forced-air model: 53 litres’ internal volume, a temperature range of 20 to 300 °C, and two redundant Pt100 sensors that monitor each other. If one fails, the second automatically takes over. For laboratories that do not wish to compromise on process reliability, even with small batches, the UF55plus is therefore the logical alternative to the SingleDISPLAY base model, without taking up any more floor space.

Convection heating with redundant temperature measurement in the smallest of spaces

The UF55plus’s fan, which is electronically controllable in 10 per cent increments, actively distributes heat throughout the interior and achieves an operating temperature range from at least 10 °C above room temperature up to 300 °C. Two DIN Class A Pt100 sensors in a 4-wire configuration monitor each other and ensure a setting accuracy of 0.1 °C up to 99.9 °C and 0.5 °C from 100 °C onwards, even in the event of a sensor failure. Preheated fresh air is introduced via an electronically adjustable exhaust air damper; the exhaust air outlet with throttle valve can also be controlled electronically.

ControlCOCKPIT TwinDISPLAY: HeatBALANCE and AutoSAFETY

The UF55plus is controlled via the ControlCOCKPIT TwinDISPLAY, which features two high-resolution TFT colour graphic displays. The HeatBALANCE function allows for fine-tuning of the heat output distribution between the upper and lower heating groups from -50 to +50 per cent. AutoSAFETY also monitors over- and under-temperature conditions, automatically tracks the setpoint within a freely selectable tolerance range and triggers visual and audible alarms in the event of a deviation; if the setpoint is exceeded, the heating system switches off. Programmes are programmed, managed and transferred via the Ethernet interface or USB port using the AtmoCONTROL software.

Capacity and dimensions of the Memmert UF55plus universal chamber

The interior measures 400 x 400 x 330 mm; the external dimensions of the housing are 585 x 784 x 514 mm, and the net weight is approximately 57 kg, identical to the base model UF55. One electropolished stainless steel wire shelf is included as standard; a total of up to four shelves can be fitted. The maximum total load is 80 kg, with a maximum of 20 kg per shelf. The interior is made of easy-to-clean stainless steel, reinforced with deep-drawn ribbing and featuring integrated, protected all-round heating on all four sides; the housing is made of textured stainless steel with a fully galvanised sheet steel rear panel. The UF55plus can be connected either to 230 V (approx. 2,000 W) or 115 V (approx. 1,700 W), in each case at 50/60 Hz.

Selection guide: choosing the right size from the UF range

The eight models in the Memmert UF range, featuring forced air circulation, have internal volumes ranging from 53 to 1,060 litres and are each also available with TwinDISPLAY. When selecting the appropriate size, the key factors to consider, alongside the volume, are the footprint and the number of racks required.

Within this range, the UF55plus marks the entry-level model featuring the TwinDISPLAY configuration. Those who can do without sensor redundancy can save money with the identically constructed Memmert UF55 universal cabinet in the basic model with SingleDISPLAY. For samples sensitive to dust or air movement that cannot tolerate active air circulation, the Memmert UN55plus universal cabinet offers the same housing with natural convection instead of an air turbine, whilst still featuring TwinDISPLAY. Those requiring more volume whilst maintaining the same footprint will find it in the Memmert UF75plus universal cabinet.

Safety in accordance with DIN 12880, enhanced by AutoSAFETY

In addition to adjustable electronic temperature monitoring and AutoSAFETY, the UF55plus features a mechanical temperature limiter of protection class 1 in accordance with DIN 12880, which switches off the heating when the temperature reaches approximately 20 °C above the maximum cabinet temperature. The display also allows you to select either a temperature selector monitor of protection class 3.1 or a temperature selector limiter of protection class 2. An integrated self-diagnostic system assists with fault-finding, and 3 freely selectable temperature values can be calibrated. The unit bears CE and EAC markings as well as a UL test mark.

Installation, operation and disposal

For operation, a minimum clearance of 15 cm from the wall and a maximum clearance of 20 cm from the ceiling must be maintained; a minimum clearance of 5 cm is sufficient on the sides from the wall or an adjacent unit. The unit may be installed at altitudes of up to 2,000 m above sea level at an ambient temperature of 5 °C to 40 °C and a relative humidity of no more than 80 per cent, non-condensing. Electrically, the UF55plus is designed for overvoltage category II and pollution degree 2; it must only be transported in an upright position. The interior, made of easy-to-clean stainless steel, can be cleaned using standard laboratory cleaning products. As an electrical appliance, the UF55plus is subject to the Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act at the end of its service life and must not be disposed of with household waste; see Regulatory Information below.
