With a capacity of 1,060 litres, the Memmert universal oven UF1060 is the largest model in the entire UF range and is designed for batches that cannot be accommodated even in the 749-litre floor-standing model. The temperature range extends from 20 to 300 °C, and the electronically controlled air turbine actively distributes the heat throughout the spacious interior. A notable feature is the permissible load per shelf of up to 60 kg, more than on the smaller UF models, making the UF1060 suitable for heavy workpieces and components. Fitted with castors that can be locked in place, the cabinet, which weighs around 252 kg, can be moved around the laboratory or production hall despite its size.

Forced air circulation in the largest size in the series

With an internal volume of 1,060 litres, active air circulation is practically essential for even heat distribution. The UF1060’s air turbine, which can be electronically controlled in 10 % increments, ensures that the working temperature range, from at least 10 °C above room temperature up to 300 °C, is reliably achieved, even with densely packed, heavy batches. A Pt100 temperature sensor of DIN Class A in a 4-wire configuration provides a setting accuracy of 0.1 °C up to 99.9 °C and 0.5 °C from 100 °C onwards, regardless of the load. Preheated fresh air is introduced via an electronically adjustable exhaust air damper; the exhaust air outlet with throttle valve can also be controlled electronically.

ControlCOCKPIT SingleDISPLAY for industrial use

The UF1060 is controlled via the ControlCOCKPIT SingleDISPLAY, an adaptive, multifunctional digital PID microprocessor controller with a high-resolution TFT colour graphics display. The following parameters can be adjusted: temperature in Celsius or Fahrenheit, the speed of the recirculation fan, the position of the exhaust air damper, the programme duration, as well as the time zone and summer/winter time. A digital countdown timer with target time can be set from 1 minute to 99 days; the SetpointWait function only starts the actual process time once the setpoint temperature has actually been reached, an important feature for long, unattended processes involving large batches. The integrated data logger can be read, managed and organised via the Ethernet interface; a time-limited trial version of the AtmoCONTROL software is available for download.

Capacity and load-bearing capacity of the Memmert universal oven UF1060

The interior measures 1,040 x 1,200 x 850 mm and comes fitted as standard with 2 electropolished stainless steel grid shelves; a total of up to 14 shelves are possible, as with the UF750. The key difference lies in the load capacity: whilst the UF750 has a load capacity of 30 kg per shelf, the UF1060 allows up to 60 kg per shelf, whilst still maintaining a total load capacity of 300 kg. The external dimensions of the housing are 1,224 x 1,720 x 1,035 mm, with a net weight of around 252 kg. The interior consists of easy-to-clean stainless steel, reinforced by deep-drawn ribbing, with protected, integrated 4-sided all-round heating; the housing is made of textured stainless steel with a fully galvanised sheet steel rear panel. The UF1060 is connected to a 400 V three-phase supply and 3 x 230 V without a neutral conductor at 50/60 Hz, with a power consumption of around 7,000 W.

Selection guide: choosing the right size from the UF range

The Memmert UF range with forced-air circulation comprises eight models, with capacities ranging from 53 to 1,060 litres. When selecting the appropriate size, the key factors to consider, in addition to the internal volume itself, are the footprint and the number of shelves required.

The UF1060 sits at the top end of this range and offers the largest available capacity within the series. With the same width as the Memmert universal oven UF750 (footprint 1,224 x 784 mm), its greater depth (footprint 1,224 x 1,035 mm) provides around 300 litres more internal volume and twice the load capacity per shelf. Differentiation: SingleDISPLAY, TwinDISPLAY and natural convection

The UF1060 described here operates with SingleDISPLAY and a single Pt100 sensor. For unattended processes with higher safety requirements, the Memmert universal oven UF1060plus offers two redundant Pt100 sensors, the HeatBALANCE function and additional AutoSAFETY monitoring, each with two TFT displays instead of one. Memmert does not offer a natural convection variant of this size in the UN series as a 1,060-litre model; the largest natural convection model is the Memmert universal oven UN750 with a capacity of 749 litres. Safety according to DIN 12880 for unattended operation

In addition to the adjustable electronic temperature monitoring, the UF1060 features a mechanical temperature limiter of protection class 1 according to DIN 12880, which switches off the heating when the temperature rises to approximately 20 °C above the maximum cabinet temperature, an important safety feature for overnight or weekend runs. An integrated self-diagnostic system assists with fault-finding, whilst the calibration function allows three freely selectable temperature values to be readjusted. The unit bears CE and EAC markings as well as a UL test mark.

Installation, operation and disposal

For operation, a minimum distance of 15 cm from the wall and a minimum distance of 20 cm from the ceiling must be maintained; a minimum distance of 5 cm from the side of the wall or an adjacent unit is sufficient. The unit may be installed at altitudes of up to 2,000 m above sea level at an ambient temperature of 5 °C to 40 °C and a relative humidity of no more than 80 %, non-condensing. Electrically, the cabinet is designed for overvoltage category II and pollution degree 2; it must only be transported in an upright position. Thanks to its castors, the UF1060 can still be moved within these specifications even after installation.
