Memmert universal oven UF55plus, compact heating and drying oven with forced air circulation and TwinDISPLAY, 53 litres, up to 300 °C

The Memmert UF55plus universal oven brings the series’ TwinDISPLAY safety features to the smallest forced-air model: 53 litres’ internal volume, a temperature range of 20 to 300 °C, and two redundant Pt100 sensors that monitor each other. If one fails, the second automatically takes over its function. For laboratories that do not want to compromise on process reliability, even with small batches, the UF55plus is therefore the logical alternative to the SingleDISPLAY base model, without taking up any extra floor space.

Forced air circulation with redundant temperature measurement in a very compact space

The UF55plus’s air turbine, which can be electronically controlled in 10 % increments, actively distributes heat throughout the interior and operates within a temperature range of at least 10 °C above room temperature up to 300 °C. Two DIN Class A Pt100 sensors in a 4-wire configuration monitor each other and ensure a setting accuracy of 0.1 °C up to 99.9 °C and 0.5 °C from 100 °C onwards, even in the event of a sensor failure. Preheated fresh air is introduced via an electronically adjustable exhaust air damper; the exhaust air outlet with throttle valve can also be controlled electronically.

ControlCOCKPIT TwinDISPLAY: HeatBALANCE and AutoSAFETY

The UF55plus is controlled via the ControlCOCKPIT TwinDISPLAY, which features two high-resolution TFT colour graphic displays. The HeatBALANCE function allows for fine-tuning of the heat output distribution between the upper and lower heating groups from -50 to +50 %. AutoSAFETY also monitors over- and under-temperature conditions, automatically tracks the setpoint within a freely selectable tolerance range and triggers visual and audible alarms in the event of a deviation; if the setpoint is exceeded, the heating system switches off. Programmes are programmed, managed and transferred via the Ethernet interface or USB port using the AtmoCONTROL software.

Capacity and dimensions of the Memmert universal oven UF55plus

The internal dimensions are 400 x 400 x 330 mm; the external dimensions of the housing are 585 x 784 x 514 mm, and the net weight is approximately 57 kg, identical to that of the base model UF55. One electropolished stainless steel grid shelf is included as standard; up to four shelves are possible in total. The maximum total load is 80 kg, with up to 20 kg permitted per shelf. The interior consists of easy-to-clean stainless steel, reinforced by deep-drawn ribbing, with protected, integrated 4-sided all-round heating; the housing is made of textured stainless steel with a fully galvanised sheet steel rear panel. The UF55plus can be connected either to 230 V (approx. 2,000 W) or 115 V (approx. 1,700 W), in both cases at 50/60 Hz.

Selection guide: choosing the right size from the UF range

The eight models in the Memmert UF range, which feature forced air circulation, have internal volumes ranging from 53 to 1,060 litres and are each available with TwinDISPLAY. When selecting the right model, the key factors to consider, alongside the volume, are the footprint and the number of shelves required.

Within this range, the UF55plus marks the entry-level model featuring the TwinDISPLAY system. Anyone who can do without sensor redundancy can save money with the identically built Memmert universal oven UF55 in the basic model with SingleDISPLAY. For samples that are sensitive to dust or air movement and cannot tolerate active air circulation, the Memmert universal oven UN55plus offers the same housing, but with natural convection instead of an air turbine, and still featuring TwinDISPLAY. Safety according to DIN 12880, enhanced by AutoSAFETY

In addition to the adjustable electronic temperature monitoring and AutoSAFETY, the UF55plus is fitted with a mechanical temperature limiter of protection class 1 according to DIN 12880, which switches off the heating when the temperature rises to approximately 20 °C above the maximum cabinet temperature. The display also allows you to select either an adjustable temperature monitor (protection class 3.1) or an adjustable temperature limiter (protection class 2). An integrated self-diagnostic system assists with fault-finding, and 3 freely selectable temperature values can be calibrated. The unit bears CE and EAC markings as well as a UL mark.

Installation, operation and disposal

For operation, a minimum distance of 15 cm from the wall and a minimum distance of 20 cm from the ceiling must be maintained; a minimum of 5 cm is sufficient on either side in relation to the wall or an adjacent unit. The unit may be installed at altitudes of up to 2,000 m above sea level at an ambient temperature of 5 °C to 40 °C and a relative humidity of no more than 80 %, non-condensing. Electrically, the UF55plus is designed for overvoltage category II and pollution degree 2; it must only be transported in an upright position. The interior, made of easy-to-clean stainless steel, can be cleaned using standard laboratory cleaning agents. As an electrical appliance, the UF55plus is subject to the German Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG) at the end of its service life and must not be disposed of with household waste; see Regulatory information below.
