With 161 litres of interior and one Pt100 sensor, the Memmert UN160 universal oven is the single-sensor version of this size, controlled via a ControlCOCKPIT with one high-resolution TFT colour graphic display. Memmert describes the series as a classic for temperature control in science and research and for material testing in industry. Heating is by natural convection alone, without an air turbine, and the setting temperature range extends from +20 to +300 °C.
Interior and load
The interior measures 560 x 720 x 400 mm, and the external dimensions are 745 x 1,104 x 584 mm plus 56 mm for the door handle. Two stainless steel grid shelves, electropolished, are part of the standard equipment, and up to eight shelves are possible. A total load of 210 kg is permitted with a maximum of 20 kg per shelf, and the net weight is around 96 kg. The UN160 is connected as standard with 230 V at approx. 3,200 W, and 115 V at approx. 1,800 W is available as a factory option.
Control and programming
The adaptive multifunctional digital PID microprocessor controller shows the setpoint temperature on the TFT colour graphic display, and the setting accuracy is 0.1 °C up to a setpoint temperature of 99.9 °C and 0.5 °C from 100 °C. The SetpointWAIT function starts the process time only after the setpoint temperature has been reached, a digital countdown timer covers target times from 1 minute to 99 days, and three freely selectable temperature values can be calibrated. The data logger can be read out, managed and organised via the Ethernet interface with a time-limited trial version for download, and a USB stick with the AtmoCONTROL software is available as an accessory.
Safety technology
The safety technology includes an adjustable electronic temperature monitor and a mechanical temperature limiter of protection class 1 according to DIN 12880, which switches off the heating approx. 20 °C above the maximum oven temperature. A self-diagnosis system helps with fault finding, and the housing has a fully galvanised sheet steel rear wall.
Guide to choosing the right equipment
Anyone who needs two Pt100 sensors with mutual monitoring, a TwinDISPLAY, the HeatBALANCE and AutoSAFETY functions and an adjustable temperature monitor or adjustable temperature limiter selectable on the display will find the same volume in the UN160plus of the UN-plus series. For applications without this need, the UN160 remains the more simply equipped alternative with the same interior.
