The Nabertherm L 5/12 combines 5 litres of usable space with Tmax 1,200 °C and a flap door that also serves as a shelf. Compared with the 1,100 °C version, it takes somewhat longer to heat up at around 59 minutes and works with a type S thermocouple.
Construction, heating and insulation
Inside, the usable space measures 205 x 170 x 130 mm, externally 385 x 390 x 460 mm. The double walled, rear ventilated housing is made of textured stainless steel sheet, heating is from two sides via ceramic heating plates with integrated heating wire. As insulation material, exclusively a variant without classification under the CLP Regulation (EG) Nr. 1272/2008 is used, aluminium silicate wool (RCF fibre) is not installed. At 230 V 1/N/PE or 400 V 3/N/PE, heating the empty, closed furnace to Tmax minus 100 K takes around 59 minutes, the weight is 27 kg.
Controller and thermocouple
Operation is via the touch controller B510 with 5 programs of 4 segments each. NTLog Basic records process data on a USB stick, the heating works quietly via solid state relays. For Tmax 1,200 °C, a type S thermocouple is installed, the temperature uniformity at working temperatures above 800 °C in the empty usable space with the air inlet slide closed is +/-5 K according to DIN 17052-1.
Flap door and safety
The flap door can be used as a shelf during loading, an adjustable air inlet opening sits in the door, the exhaust air is drawn off via the rear wall. An adjustable temperature limiter with adjustable cut-off temperature is optionally available as additional over-temperature protection.
Selection guide for door type and temperature class
Those who prefer the hot side facing away from the operator when opening will find the lift door variant at the same usable space and temperature class in the LT 5/12 (article no. L-055H2AL). If the lower temperature class is sufficient, the L 5/11 with Tmax 1,100 °C offers an alternative.
Typical applications
The L/LT series is intended for use in laboratory and research. The L 5/12 suits where 5 litres of usable space are sufficient, but temperatures up to 1,200 °C are needed.
