Bandelin SONOREX DIGITEC DT 255 Ultrasonic Bath, 5.5 L, 35 kHz, 3215

The Bandelin SONOREX DIGITEC DT 255 has internal dimensions of 300 x 150 x 150 mm and a total capacity of 5.5 l. It is operated via buttons and does not have a built-in heating element.

300 mm long tank

The working capacity is 3.8 l; a fill-level mark inside the tank makes filling easier. The tank and housing are made from 1.4301 stainless steel; the tank has a wall thickness of 1.0 mm. Compared to the DT 510, which has internal dimensions of 300 x 240 x 150 mm, the footprint of the DT 255 is a good third smaller, whilst the length and depth are the same. For even longer items to be cleaned, the SUPER RK 156 BH is designed with a 500 mm tank length; however, it features a rotary knob control instead of buttons.

Two oscillation systems, 640 watts peak power

At an operating frequency of 35 kHz, the two oscillation systems achieve a peak ultrasonic power of 640 watts; the rated power is 160 watts. The SweepTec function operates fully automatically and is designed to prevent standing waves in the ultrasonic field. There is also a pulse function. The DEGAS degassing function can be activated at the start of the cleaning process to remove dissolved air from freshly prepared cleaning fluid.

Button controls, timer and shut-off

The unit is operated via wipe-clean buttons; the remaining cleaning time can be read on the display. The timer can be set to 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 15 or 30 minutes (tolerance ± 5 per cent); alternatively, the bath can run continuously. Twelve hours after the last button press, the unit switches off automatically. For those wishing to heat the bath, the version with a heater is available as the DT 255 H under order number 3240.

Drain, handles and installation

A drain with a G 1/4 ball valve on the right-hand side is provided for emptying. The ball valve, hose connector and hose for fitting to the drain are supplied with the unit. Handles on the sides make it easier to move the unit, which weighs 4.9 kg. The 2-metre power cable is permanently attached, and the protection rating is IP 33. The permissible ambient temperature is 5 to 40 °C.

Matching accessories from the Bandelin range

For the DT 255, Bandelin supplies the D 255 lid, the K 5 C stainless steel hanging basket (260 x 110 x 40 mm, mesh size 5 x 5 mm, load capacity up to 5 kg) and the perforated lid DE 255 for two test cups. Test cups with lids and rubber rings are available in 0.6-litre sizes in glass, plastic and stainless steel. The KW 5 hanging tray made of HD-PE (254 x 96 x 130 mm) is designed for temperatures up to a maximum of 60 °C. The FT 4 film test frame is used to test the bath.

Does the DT 255 have a heating element? No. The heated version is called the DT 255 H and has the order number 3240.

Are there other plug types available? Yes. Bandelin stocks variants with UK, Swiss and US plugs under separate order numbers, for example 3215-GB. The 3215 model offered here is for 230 V with a CEE 7/7 EU plug.
