Bandelin SONOREX DIGITEC DT 510 F Set Ultrasonic Bath with Flat Tank, 4.3 L, 35 kHz, 13242

The inner depth of the Bandelin SONOREX DIGITEC DT 510 F bath is just 65 mm. With a base area of 300 x 240 mm, it has a capacity of 4.3 l, of which 2.5 l are usable as working volume. The set comprises the bath, the K 10 F insert basket and one litre of TICKOPUR R 33. The bath belongs to the F series and is designed for sample preparation: samples in laboratory flasks and vessels are subjected to ultrasonic treatment, homogenised or degassed indirectly via the bath water.

Indirect ultrasonic treatment in a shallow tank

According to the manufacturer, direct ultrasonic treatment of objects and the cleaning of items are not permitted with the F series. The DT series baths without the ‘F’ designation are intended for the ultrasonic cleaning of objects, for example the DT 510. It has the same footprint of 300 x 240 mm, but the tank is more than twice as deep at 150 mm and has a capacity of 9.7 l.

Four vibration systems, SweepTec and DEGAS

Four vibration systems operate at 35 kHz with a peak power of 560 watts; the nominal power is 140 watts. The SweepTec function runs fully automatically and prevents standing waves in the ultrasonic field, ensuring that samples are exposed to ultrasonic waves evenly regardless of their size and arrangement. In addition, there is a pulse function and DEGAS for rapid degassing of the sonication fluid. Twelve hours after the last button press, the unit switches itself off automatically.

Buttons, timer and display

The unit is operated via wipe-clean buttons. An LED progress indicator on the time scale shows the remaining sonication time. The timer offers settings of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 15 and 30 minutes (± 5 %) as well as continuous operation.

Tank, drain and dimensions

The tank (1.0 mm) and housing are made of 1.4301 stainless steel. Drainage is via a G 1/2 ball valve on the left-hand side, to which a 50 cm long hose is attached. The external dimensions of the bath are 325 x 265 x 195 mm (excluding handles and ball valve, including feet). The set has a net weight of 5.9 kg; the shipping weight is 7.5 kg with packaging dimensions of 450 x 390 x 275 mm. The handles on the sides make it easier to move the unit. The power cable is 2 m long and permanently attached to the unit; the protection rating is IP 33. The DT 1028 F from the same F series offers more space for samples, with internal dimensions of 500 x 300 x 65 mm and a working capacity of 5.8 l. It is available as part of the SONOSHAKE set with the SA 1028 shaking attachment.

Insert basket, TICKOPUR and holding clamps

The set includes the K 10 F insert basket made of stainless steel (230 x 195 x 35 mm, mesh size 5 x 5 mm, load capacity up to 10 kg). The basket holds the sample vessels within the ultrasonic field, ensuring that nothing rests on the bottom of the tank. The included litre of TICKOPUR R 33 is the ultrasonic additive for the bath fluid. Bandelin also offers the polypropylene insert grid EG 1 as an accessory. The EK 10 to EK 250 stainless steel holding clamps are screwed into the basket and accommodate laboratory flasks ranging from 10 to 250 ml; the EK 10 accommodates flasks up to 31 mm in diameter, whilst the EK 250 accommodates flasks up to 85 mm. They prevent the flasks from tipping over or floating to the surface. The FT 14 foil test frame can be used to check the ultrasonication.

Frequently asked questions

Can I clean tools or laboratory glassware in the DT 510 F?
No, the F series is designed for the indirect sonication of samples. According to the manufacturer, direct sonication and the cleaning of items are not permitted.

How much water goes into the tank?
The working capacity is 2.5 l; the fill-level mark in the tank indicates the level. According to the manufacturer, plain water is unsuitable. When using TICKOPUR R 33, the volume is 2.4 l of water plus 25 ml if using deionised water (1 %) or 75 ml if using tap water (3 %).

How is the bath drained?
Via the G 1/2 ball valve on the left-hand side, to which a 50 cm hose is attached.

What is included in the set and what else do I need?
The set includes the bath, the K 10 F insert basket and 1 l of TICKOPUR R 33. According to the manufacturer, during sonication the sample vessels stand on a basket or holder; nothing must stand or lie directly on the bottom of the tank. For laboratory flasks, holding clamps are used in addition and are available separately.
