Anyone who regularly needs to pump liquids in the laboratory, from aqueous buffers and reagents to more corrosive media, needs, above all, a reliable drive that can be adapted to changing tasks. The Hei-FLOW Core 120 is the basic model in the Heidolph peristaltic pump range and covers a speed range of 10 to 120 revolutions per minute. The drive unit is supplied without a pump head; single-channel or multi-channel pump heads, as well as the appropriate tubing, are selected separately depending on the medium being pumped and the flow rate.

A drive for single-channel and multi-channel operation

Switching between a single-channel and a multi-channel pump head is carried out on the same drive, without having to change the unit. With a single-channel pump head, the flow rate ranges from 0.85 to 861 millilitres per minute; with a multi-channel pump head, it ranges from 0.005 to 364 millilitres per minute. A switch reverses the direction of flow, so that the same setup can be used for both filling and emptying a vessel.

Digital speed control

The EC motor operates with a power consumption of 100 watts and the same output power, and is designed for continuous operation around the clock, seven days a week. The speed is controlled digitally and displayed analogously; according to the data sheet, the control accuracy is ± 0.5 per cent and the flow accuracy is ± 5 per cent. An overheating protection system switches off the drive if the temperature becomes too high, before any damage occurs.

Compact design for everyday use

Without the pump head, the Core 120 measures 166 by 225 by 256 millimetres and weighs 7.6 kilograms. IP 54 protection in accordance with DIN EN 60529 protects against dust and splashing water from all directions, whilst protection class 1 in accordance with EN 61140 ensures the metal housing is earthed. With a sound pressure level below 55 dB(A) in accordance with IEC 61010, its operation goes almost unnoticed in everyday laboratory use. It is connected via a rated voltage of 110 to 240 volts at 50 or 60 hertz, meaning the device can be operated in different mains environments without the need for a voltage transformer.

If you wish to pump through multiple channels in parallel from the outset, the Hei-FLOW Core 120 Multi saves you from having to purchase an additional multi-channel adapter later on. For significantly higher flow rates whilst maintaining the same design, the Hei-FLOW Core 600 has a speed range of 50 to 600 revolutions per minute. If the drive is to be integrated into an automated system at a later date or operated via a foot switch, the Hei-FLOW Expert 120 offers the same speed range with an additional analogue interface. The pump head and tubing are not included in the Scope of delivery and must be selected separately from the range of accessories, for example single-channel pump heads from the SP quick, SP standard or SP vario series, as well as tubing made from silicone, Tygon, PharMed or Viton in 1.6 or 2.5 millimetres.
