Heidolph Hei-FLOW Expert 120 Peristaltic Pump, 5 to 120 rpm, with Analog Interface, 523-51010-00

If a pump is operating as part of a larger system, manual operation alone is rarely sufficient. Like the Core 120, the Hei-FLOW Expert 120 covers a speed range of 5 to 120 revolutions per minute, but also features an analogue interface and a foot switch connection, via which the speed, direction of rotation, as well as start and stop, can be controlled externally.

External control via analogue interface

The analogue interface operates either at 0 to 10 volts or 4 to 20 milliamps and transmits speed, direction of rotation, and start and stop commands. This allows the pump to be integrated into a higher-level control system or a PLC without the need for manual intervention on the unit itself. In addition, there is a connection for a foot switch, which allows the pump to be started and stopped by pressing a pedal, whilst both hands remain on the hose or container. The foot switch itself is part of the range of accessories and can be added to the Expert 120 as required.

Flow rate and control accuracy

With a single-channel pump head, the flow rate ranges from 0.5 to 936 millilitres per minute; with a multi-channel pump head, it ranges from 0.005 to 277 millilitres per minute. According to the data sheet, the control accuracy is ± 0.5 per cent, and the delivery accuracy is ± 3.5 per cent. The EC motor draws 100 watts, whilst an overheat protection system with electronic current limiting provides additional protection for the drive during continuous, round-the-clock operation.

Design and connections

Without the pump head, the Expert 120 measures 166 × 225 × 256 millimetres and weighs 7.6 kilograms; protection rating IP 54 in accordance with DIN EN 60529 and protection class 1 in accordance with EN 61140 apply, as with the other Hei-FLOW models. The sound pressure level is below 55 dB(A) in accordance with IEC 61010; the unit is connected to a supply of 110 to 240 volts at 50 or 60 hertz.

Selection guide: with or without external control

If you do not require external control, the simpler Hei-FLOW Core 120 without an analogue interface will suffice. For parallel multi-channel applications using the same external control system, the Hei-FLOW Expert 120 Multi is available. If a digital display, an RS232 interface or volume and interval dosing are also required, the Hei-FLOW Ultimate 120 offers a wider range of functions. For higher flow rates with the same external control system, the Hei-FLOW Expert 600 operates in the speed range of 50 to 600 revolutions per minute.
