Product information "IKA EUROSTAR 20 overhead stirrer with high-speed control and TFT display, up to 6000 rpm, 0020105161"

The IKA EUROSTAR 20 high-speed control overhead stirrer (MPN 0020105161) represents the most technologically advanced level of compact high-speed laboratory stirrers. With a reduction in space requirements of up to 23 per cent compared to older generations of equipment, this unit offers high functional density within a minimal footprint. Designed for demanding mixing, dispersing and emulsifying tasks in a B2B laboratory environment, it processes sample volumes of up to 20 litres (based on water) and handles viscosities of up to 10,000 mPas. It is suitable for rheological investigations, ultra-fine emulsions and documented scaling processes.

Within the EUROSTAR series, the Model 20 high speed control combines the wide speed range of the Model 20 high speed digital (150 to 6,000 rpm) with the sensor technology of the control series: TFT display, absolute torque and temperature measurement, and reversible rotation direction, though without Wi-Fi and with a wired Ethernet connection only.

Torque monitoring and integrated viscosity calculation

The metrological heart of the control series is an integrated torque sensor, which enables torque monitoring with an accuracy of ±1 Ncm. Based on these measured values, the internal microprocessor calculates the viscosity of the medium and displays the viscosity in mPas on the graphic display. Thanks to the electronic speed control in the high-speed range from 150 to 6,000 revolutions per minute, the brushless DC motor adapts dynamically to load changes.

Advanced process functions and Scope of delivery

The EUROSTAR 20 high speed control features an integrated temperature measurement function (via PT1000 interface), a rotation direction that can be reversed at the touch of a button (anti-clockwise/clockwise rotation), and a programmable interval mode. The R 6000 precision stirring shaft (length 280 mm, maximum immersion depth 220 mm), included in the Scope of delivery, ensures the system is ready for immediate use. A lock button protects the system against accidental changes to parameters, whilst an integrated timer and a counter function support scheduled test series.

Industry 4.0 network integration and robust housing

With USB-C, RS232 and Ethernet interfaces, the overhead stirrer can be connected to control computers and automated and validated via the labworldsoft laboratory software. The housing, made from coated cast aluminium and robust thermoplastic, meets protection class IP 54. The brushless DC drive operates with virtually no wear, is whisper-quiet (52 dBA) and is designed for a 100 per cent duty cycle in continuous operation.

Typical applications

 • Rheological investigations and ultra-fine emulsions with real-time viscosity display at speeds of up to 6,000 revolutions per minute
 • High-speed dispersion with simultaneous temperature monitoring via PT1000, for example with temperature-sensitive emulsions
 • Processes requiring reversible rotation to re-mix deposits on the supplied R 6000 stirring shaft
 • Documented scale-up trials with connection to labworldsoft via Ethernet, if no Wi-Fi is required in the laboratory

IKA R 1405 propeller, Ø 45 mm, for EUROSTAR 20 & T 50, 0001289800
IKA R 1405 propeller, Ø 45 mm, for EUROSTAR 20 & T 50, 0001289800
Manufacturer number: 0001289800

The perfect combination of high speed and gentle sample handling: the IKA R 1405 propeller In modern process engineering, chemical synthesis, cosmetics development and demanding food technology, laboratory technicians and researchers face a physical dilemma on a daily basis: how can low- to medium-viscosity liquids be mixed quickly and homogeneously at extremely high speeds without the resulting frictional energy causing thermal degradation of the sample? Many conventional stirring elements and dispersing tools generate enormous shear forces during high-speed applications, which inevitably lead to a rapid and uncontrolled rise in temperature within the medium. For temperature-sensitive biological samples, volatile solvents or complex emulsions that would break down immediately if exposed to heat, this is an absolute deal-breaker. IKA has developed the highly specialised R 1405 propeller (MPN 0001289800) specifically for this critical set of requirements. This smart stirring tool offers you the unique opportunity to operate at maximum speeds whilst simultaneously reducing the thermal stress on your valuable product to an absolute, barely measurable minimum. Top-class fluid dynamics: the axial flow pattern The physical secret behind the outstanding efficiency of the IKA R 1405 propeller, which has a precisely calculated diameter of 45 millimetres, lies in its specific aerodynamic blade geometry. Unlike radial agitators, which hurl the medium against the vessel wall with brute force, generating significant frictional heat, this propeller creates a purely axial flow pattern. This means that the liquid flows are pumped through the entire vessel volume parallel to the agitator shaft, from top to bottom (or vice versa, depending on the direction of rotation). The result is a massive circulation capacity with surprisingly low shear forces. This gentle yet highly effective circulation reliably prevents solids from settling at the bottom of the vessel (suspension) and ensures excellent, rapid heat exchange within the sample. The molecular chains in your liquid are gently mixed rather than being mechanically broken up, which preserves the viscosity and texture of the end product to premium quality. Unrivalled system compatibility: one tool, two device worlds Another outstanding economic advantage of the IKA R 1405 propeller is its smart cross-compatibility within the IKA instrument portfolio. Laboratory budgets are often limited, and the purchase of dedicated accessories for each individual base unit unnecessarily ties up financial resources and valuable storage space. The R 1405 ingeniously bridges the gap between two completely different classes of equipment. On the one hand, it is the perfect stirring element for the high-speed laboratory stirrers of the EUROSTAR 20 high speed series (digital and control). On the other hand, it can be seamlessly coupled as an alternative mixing head to the high-performance T 50 digital dispersing drive (as an alternative to the R 1402 dissolver). (Please note: to mechanically connect the propeller head to the respective motor, you will need the appropriate intermediate shaft. For the EUROSTAR 20, this is the R 6000 precision stirring shaft; for the T 50 drive, it is the R 50 high-speed stirring shaft. These shafts act as adaptors and power transmitters). Thanks to this enormous versatility, you can significantly increase the utilisation (return on investment) of your existing IKA equipment. Scalability from laboratory to pilot scale When a new product is being developed in the research and development (R&D) department, this usually takes place in small beakers. If the formulation works, the process must be scaled up to pilot scale quickly. The R 1405 propeller supports this critical scale-up process perfectly. With a specified, exceptionally wide operating range from 0.25 litres up to a massive 30 litres (based on the viscosity of water), a single tool covers the entire journey from the initial small-scale feasibility study in a test tube right through to the production of a pre-production batch in a large stainless-steel laboratory reactor. You do not need to change the geometry of the agitator as the volume increases, which ensures the reproducibility of your experimental data and drastically minimises sources of error during scale-up (scale-up factor). Material quality, cleaning and integration into your QM system Manufactured from high-quality, corrosion-resistant stainless steel, the IKA R 1405 propeller effortlessly withstands aggressive chemicals, harsh solvents, acids and alkalis. The smooth surfaces and flow-optimised edges without blind spots ensure that no product residues can become trapped. The tool can be cleaned quickly, safely and with absolutely no residue after use, which is essential in GMP-regulated environments, in pharmaceutical research or in the food industry to prevent dangerous cross-contamination. Choosing this original IKA accessory means investing in decades of trouble-free service life, in absolutely reproducible mixing results and in the highest level of process reliability during every audit. It is the ultimate tool for users who want to get the maximum mixing performance out of their IKA high-speed drives without compromising on sample integrity. Technical data Rotor diameter: 45 mm Working range (H₂O volume): 0.25 l to 30 l Flow pattern: Axial (high circulation performance, minimal shear forces) Thermal characteristics: Designed for minimal temperature rise in the medium Application: Ideal for liquids with low to medium viscosities Compatibility (stirring systems): IKA EUROSTAR 20 high speed digital / control (only in conjunction with R 6000 stirrer shaft) Compatibility (dispersers): IKA T 50 digital (only in conjunction with high-speed stirrer shaft R 50) Material: High-quality, chemically resistant stainless steel Sterilisability/sterility: No (the tool is supplied unsterile) Contents of delivery 1 x IKA R 1405 propeller (Ø 45 mm) (Important note: The R 1405 propeller is a mixing head only. IKA R 1402 Dissolver (toothed disc), Ø 42 mm, for EUROSTAR 20 & T 50, 0001243300
Manufacturer number: 0001243300

Maximum shear forces for the most demanding dispersions: the IKA R 1402 Dissolver In modern product development, the chemical industry, paint and varnish manufacturing, and sophisticated cosmetic formulation, the incorporation of fine powders into liquid media presents one of the greatest process engineering challenges. Whether they are colour pigments, high-molecular-weight thickeners, ceramic powders or active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) – upon contact with the liquid surface, these solids almost invariably tend to agglomerate immediately. So-called agglomerates form, in which the outer particles are wetted but the inner core of the powder remains dry (often referred to as ‘fish eyes’). Conventional propeller or anchor stirrers inevitably reach their physical limits here. They merely move these viscous clumps in a circle through the vessel without breaking them up mechanically. The disastrous consequences include extremely prolonged process times, defective product textures, reduced colour intensity in paints, or incomplete release of active ingredients in cosmetic creams. It is precisely for this critical, highly complex problem area that IKA has developed the R 1402 Dissolver (MPN 0001243300). This highly specialised high-speed mixing tool shatters stubborn agglomerates in milliseconds and guarantees you absolutely homogeneous, lump-free and perfectly dispersed suspensions in record time. The physics of comminution: the dissolver principle The technological heart of the IKA R 1402 is its precisely calculated and balanced dissolver disc (toothed disc) with a diameter of 42 millimetres. Unlike agitators, which are primarily designed for circulation, this dissolver head generates immense local shear forces at extremely high speeds. The teeth on the outer edge of the solid metal disc, which are alternately curved upwards and downwards, cut through the liquid medium at high speed. Extreme turbulence, cavitation forces and enormous mechanical impact forces arise at the edges of these teeth. The powder-liquid mixture is accelerated radially outwards with immense force by the fluid dynamic profile, strikes the vessel wall and circulates back towards the agitator shaft. This raw, yet precisely controlled, kinetic energy literally tears the stubborn agglomerate structures apart into their tiny primary particles. It is only through this radial flow pattern and the extremely high energy input that solids which are difficult to wet can be completely broken down and permanently stabilised in the liquid phase. The Trombe effect for perfect powder incorporation Another key advantage of the IKA R 1402 Dissolver is the generation of a massive vortex, known as a ‘tromb’. When the dissolver rotates at high speeds, a powerful suction force is created at the centre of the mixing vessel, reaching deep into the medium. If you now add your light, dusty powder to the surface of the liquid, it is immediately and directly sucked into the high-shear zone at the rotating toothed disc by this vortex. The powder does not float idly on the surface, where it could stick to the vessel wall, but is instantly wetted and integrated into the dispersion process. This feature is absolutely essential for a clean, efficient and loss-free laboratory workflow when preparing stock solutions or paint batches. Seamless system integration and scale-up capability The IKA R 1402 Dissolver, like the R 1405 Propeller, is characterised by its intelligent and resource-efficient cross-compatibility within the IKA product portfolio. It acts as a versatile mixing head for two completely different high-performance drives. You can operate it on the EUROSTAR 20 high-speed series laboratory stirrers (digital and control), but to do so you must use the R 6000 precision stirring shaft, which acts as an adapter. Alternatively, the tool can be coupled to the powerful T 50 digital dispersing drive, for which the R 50 high-speed stirring shaft is required. Thanks to this modular design, laboratories can switch flexibly between gentle mixing (using the propeller) and aggressive dispersion (using the dissolver) without having to purchase entirely new equipment. With a vast certified working range from 0.25 litres up to an enormous 30 litres (based on water), this tool is the perfect companion for so-called scale-up. A formulation that you develop in R&D in a small 500-ml beaker can be seamlessly scaled up to a pilot scale of 20 or 30 litres using the same tool, which guarantees the transferability and validity of your process data across different scales. Hygiene, material quality and GLP compliance When subjected to heavy-duty, continuous use with abrasive pigments, harsh chemical solvents or aggressive surfactants, a stirring tool must be extremely robust. The IKA R 1402 Dissolver is manufactured entirely from high-quality, corrosion-resistant and durable stainless steel. This premium material not only ensures an outstanding service life for the tool but also minimises unwanted metallic abrasion (contamination) in sensitive samples, which is of the utmost importance for trace analysis. The flow-optimised design of the toothed disc also prevents stubborn build-up of product residues in dead corners. Once the dispersion process is complete, the tool can be easily cleaned without leaving any residue under running water, in an ultrasonic bath or using suitable solvents. This is absolutely essential in strictly regulated quality management systems (such as GMP or GLP in the pharmaceutical industry) to completely rule out dangerous cross-contamination (carry-over) between different sample batches. With this original accessory from IKA, you are investing in maximum process reliability, the highest grinding performance and fully traceable quality in your laboratory. Technical data Tool principle: Dissolver disc (toothed disc) for radial flow Rotor diameter: 42 mm Working range (H₂O volume): 0.25 l to 30 l Main application: Breaking up agglomerates, powder incorporation, high-shear dispersion Compatibility (stirring systems): IKA EUROSTAR 20 high speed digital / control (only in conjunction with R 6000 stirring shaft) Compatibility (dispersers): IKA T 50 digital (only in conjunction with high-speed stirrer shaft R 50) Material: High-quality, chemically resistant and low-wear stainless steel Sterilisability/sterility: No (the tool is non-sterile) Contents 1 x IKA R 1402 Dissolver (toothed disc, Ø 42 mm) (Important note: The R 1402 dissolver is a mixing head only. Individual requirements & accessories To ensure you can start using this powerful tool straight away, please check your existing system for the correct shaft. For users of the EUROSTAR 20 drive, the R 6000 precision stirring shaft is essential. If you are using the T 50 dispersing drive, please add the R 50 high-speed stirring shaft to your basket. If you have samples that are extremely sensitive to temperature and would overheat due to the high shear forces of the dissolver, we recommend the IKA R 1405 propeller as a gentler alternative. Our procurement service is always available to assist you in configuring your stirring and dispersing system optimally.

IKA ETS-D7 Wireless Sensor, smart wireless temperature sensor and pH meter, 0025008370
IKA ETS-D7 Wireless Sensor, smart wireless temperature sensor and pH meter, 0025008370
Manufacturer number: 0025008370

The IKA ETS-D7 Wireless Sensor (MPN 0025008370) is a wireless temperature sensor, which transmits measured values wirelessly to compatible IKA magnetic stirrers and agitators, thereby eliminating the need for cumbersome cable connections in the fume cupboard or glovebox. Temperature data can be sent in real time to the paired drive unit via a digital WPAN radio link with a range of up to 15 metres, allowing the stirrer and sensor to be positioned independently of one another. Thanks to an integrated BNC socket, the ETS-D7 also functions as a stand-alone pH meter as soon as a suitable pH electrode is connected, thereby covering two measurement tasks with a single device. For networked laboratory workstations where temperature and stirring parameters are to be documented centrally, this wireless solution also reduces the amount of cabling required at the workstation. All-in-one measurement technology: temperature and pH in a single device An analogue pH electrode can be connected directly to the ETS-D7 via the integrated BNC socket. This transforms the wireless sensor into a fully-fledged, portable pH meter, eliminating the need to purchase an additional device for occasional pH checks. The TFT touchscreen displays temperature and pH values with a resolution of two decimal places (0.01) each; the accuracy of the pH measurement is ±0.1 pH over a measuring range of 0 to 14 pH. The touchscreen interface allows you to switch between displays and adjust settings directly on the device. For laboratories that only need to check pH values occasionally, this eliminates the need to purchase a separate pH metre. The temperature probe’s minimum immersion depth of 20 mm also allows measurements to be taken in smaller sample vessels. Intelligent energy management with Auto-Wake An integrated infrared and brightness sensor detects whether people are in the immediate vicinity and automatically activates the display when necessary (Auto-Wake). When idle, the sensor automatically switches to standby mode, achieving a battery life of up to 100 hours in Auto-Wake mode. With the display switched on continuously, the operating time is up to 50 hours. The integrated battery, with a capacity of 700 mAh at 5 V, reaches around 50 per cent of its full capacity after 60 minutes and around 75 per cent after 90 minutes, meaning that even short charging breaks can be utilised for continued use. For long test series lasting several days, this energy management system significantly reduces the effort required for recharging. Suitable for IKA RET basic, RCT basic and Eurostar control The ETS-D7 transmits its measured values via WPAN radio to compatible IKA drives. These include the magnetic stirrers of the RET basic and RCT basic series, as well as the Eurostar control stirrers. For older RCT basic models without an integrated WPAN module, the wireless connection can be retrofitted using a separately available USB wireless receiver. Depending on the connected drive, temperature and stirring parameters can be adjusted directly via the sensor’s touchscreen interface using bidirectional communication. In addition, the ETS-D7 can be integrated into safety control loops as a second, redundant temperature sensor, providing an independent control mechanism in the event of exothermic reactions. For laboratories already using a RET basic magnetic stirrer, the ETS-D7 can thus be used as a wireless extension of the existing temperature control system. Bidirectional networking for process documentation Full compatibility with the labworldsoft laboratory software enables the digital recording, central control and documentation of recorded temperature and pH curves. For laboratories that need to document their measurement series in an audit-compliant manner, the ETS-D7 can thus be integrated into existing digital quality management processes, rather than recording measurement values manually. This ensures that the assignment of measurement values remains traceable even when test series are running in parallel across multiple workstations. Typical applications Its wireless design and dual function as a temperature and pH meter make the ETS-D7 a versatile tool in a variety of laboratory situations: Temperature monitoring during syntheses with reflux cooling, without intrusive cables in the fume cupboardCable-free measurements in the glovebox, where signal cables would restrict handlingpH monitoring directly at the reaction vessel via the integrated BNC interfaceRedundant temperature monitoring in safety-critical, exothermic reactionsDocumentation of temperature and pH curves via labworldsoft in a networked laboratoryRetrofitting older RCT basic magnetic stirrers with wireless temperature controlMobile use as a stand-alone pH meter, independent of the connected stirrer Technical details Sensor typePT1000 (DIN IEC 751 Class A), replaceable Replaceable temperature sensorStandard component H62.51 Temperature measurement range-20 °C to +400 °C (in combination with H62 sensor) Temperature measurement resolution0.01 K Temperature measurement accuracy±0.05 K plus the tolerance of the PT1000 sensor Minimum immersion depth20 mm pH measurement functionVia integrated BNC socket (female) pH measurement range0 to 14 pH pH resolution0.01 pH pH accuracy±0.1 pH Display technologyTFT touchscreen Proximity sensorsInfrared and brightness detection for auto-wake AlertsStatus LED and audible alert function Wireless interfaceWPAN Communication rangeUp to 15 metres (depending on the building structure) Wired interfaceUSB-C Power supplyBuilt-in, rechargeable battery Battery capacity700 mAh, 5 V Maximum charging current500 mA Operating time (display on continuously)Up to 50 hours Operating time (Auto-Wake mode)Up to 100 hours Charging rate50% capacity in 60 minutes, 75% capacity in 90 minutes Dimensions (W x D x H)52 x 385 x 40 mm Net weight0.125 kg Protection class according to DIN EN 60529IP 54 Permissible ambient temperature+5 to +40 °C Permissible relative humidityUp to 80 % Scope of delivery 1 x IKA ETS-D7 Wireless Sensor main unit (MPN 0025008370)1 x Replaceable temperature probe H62.511 x Integrated lithium-ion battery (700 mAh)1 x Quick Start Guide / Safety Guide A pH electrode and a USB-C charging adapter are not included and are available separately. Designed as an intelligent, fully wireless sensor, this instrument eliminates the need for cumbersome cable routing in fume cupboards, gloveboxes or on crowded laboratory workstations. Via digital radio transmission (WPAN), the system transmits transient measurement data in real time over a range of up to 15 metres to compatible IKA system components – such as the latest generations of the RCT basic and RET basic magnetic stirrer series, Eurostar control stirrers, and directly to the labworldsoft (LWS) laboratory equipment software. Full app integration and display-free efficiency Unlike traditional measuring instruments, the Pt.Wireless does away with physically bulky display elements on the sensor itself and shifts all visual control to the innovative IKA app. Once paired – a straightforward process – the smartphone or tablet acts as a high-resolution dashboard for the real-time display of all parameters. Calibration of the precise temperature and pH calibration curves is also carried out error-free directly via the app’s user interface. For electrochemical analysis, the slim module features an integrated BNC interface to which an analogue pH electrode can be connected directly. This transforms the system into an ultra-compact all-in-one solution for monitoring complex reaction media. Intelligent LED status monitoring for weekend operation The Pt.Wireless’s key technical feature is its predictive, multi-stage energy management system, which enables a continuous operating time of up to 150 hours. To reliably prevent unforeseen system failures during critical long-term experiments, the sensor features a smart battery status warning via an integrated LED indicator. If the remaining runtime of the lithium battery falls below 70 hours, the LED signals at an early stage that safe, unattended operation over a full weekend can no longer be guaranteed. When the remaining runtime falls below a critical reserve of approximately 20 hours, the indicator changes to a slowly flashing yellow warning signal to alert laboratory staff that safe overnight operation is about to cease.
