With a mixing capacity of 100 l and a torque of 200 Ncm, the EUROSTAR 200 digital forms part of IKA’s classic range, which has been tried and tested for many years and continues to be manufactured alongside the newer digital LCD generation. Instead of an LCD display, a 7-segment LED display shows the speed; two switchable speed ranges cover both low-speed, high-torque applications and rapid stirring of thinner media. For anyone looking for a robust, straightforward agitator without additional electronics, the EUROSTAR 200 digital is the right choice. It shares the motor, gearbox and base housing with the EUROSTAR 200 control and can be swapped for the better-equipped model at any time if required, without altering the stability on the stand.
Two speed ranges for two tasks
In Range I, the stirrer delivers a torque of up to 200 Ncm at speeds between 6 and 400 rpm, suitable for viscous media and large stirring tools. In range II, the speed increases to up to 2,000 rpm, whilst the torque drops to a maximum of 40 Ncm, making it suitable for low-viscosity samples that require rapid stirring rather than high torque. The microprocessor-controlled system maintains the set speed constantly, even if the viscosity of the sample changes during the stirring process. According to the manufacturer, viscosities of up to 100,000 mPas are possible.
Mechanics and connection
The brushless DC motor draws 130 watts and delivers up to 84 watts to the stirring shaft. Stirring shafts are mounted via a 10 mm diameter plug-in coupling and a collet chuck ranging from 0.5 to 10 mm; the hollow shaft, with an internal diameter of 10.3 mm, can be inserted whilst the unit is stationary. With an IP 42 rating, the degree of protection is lower than that of the newer digital LCD models, but this is sufficient for standard laboratory use. An electronic safety circuit cuts off power in the event of a fault or overload, and an error code is displayed directly on the screen. The unit is also available in voltage versions of 100 to 115 V and 100 V, which is useful for locations outside the European 230 V mains supply or for replacing an older stirrer on the same circuit.
