Product information "IKA ULTRA-TURRAX Tube Drive P control single-use dispersion system, 400 to 8,000 rpm, OLED display, 0025005981"
Laboratories with an established stock of ST, DT and BMT mixing vessels primarily require a high-performance drive, not an additional starter pack. The ULTRA-TURRAX Tube Drive P control is exactly that: the control variant of the Tube Drive family featuring an OLED display, programmable test conditions and a turbo button, without any consumables included. Samples continue to be processed exclusively in sealed, single-use tubes, meaning that stirring, dispersing, homogenising and grinding take place without open handling and without the need for cleaning between batches.
Programmable test conditions instead of scale values
The drive covers a speed range of 400 to 8,000 revolutions per minute, adjustable in 10-rpm increments with a deviation of just 3 per cent. The OLED display guides the user through speed and timer settings; time, energy and volume can be programmed as test conditions and saved in a parameter library for future runs. A turbo button briefly boosts the speed to the maximum, whilst the direction of rotation can be reversed via a multilingual menu. With a power input of 36 watts and an output of 28 watts, the motor’s performance is significantly higher than that of the basic ULTRA-TURRAX Tube Drive model, which has 20 watts.
Connections and dimensions
The unit measures 122 x 54 x 178 millimetres and weighs 1.3 kilograms. An external power supply unit delivers 24 V DC at 1500 mA; the unit itself operates on 100 to 240 V at 50 or 60 Hz and draws 36 watts. A USB-B port connects the drive to a computer; the appropriate USB-A-to-USB-B cable is included. The protection class is IP 20 in accordance with DIN EN 60529, and the permissible operating range is 5 to 40 degrees Celsius at up to 80 per cent relative humidity, as with the basic model.
Typical applications
- Upgrading or expanding an existing Tube-Drive system with a second, more powerful drive
- Reproducible batch trials with stored time, energy and volume profiles
- Switching between stirring, dispersing and grinding tasks within the same unit, depending on the tube used
- Research and diagnostics with run logs subject to documentation requirements via the USB connection
Each laboratory selects the appropriate mixing vessels according to its own requirements: stirring (ST) and dispersing vessels (DT) in 20 and 50 millilitres, ball mixing vessels (BMT) made of glass or stainless steel, as well as IVD-certified variants for in vitro diagnostics. For specialised pharmaceutical or life science applications, dissolver mixing vessels (DIS) are also available, meaning that the same drive unit can be used for a wide variety of tasks depending on daily requirements, without having to change the device itself.
Selection guide: Drive unit only or complete workstation
Those new to Tube Drive technology who do not yet have mixing vessels in stock will be up and running more quickly with the pre-configured Tube Drive P control workstation, which includes this drive plus ST-20, DT-20 and BMT balls as a set. Specially compiled sets for tablet testing are provided by the UTTD control Pharma Solution, whilst the UTTD control Life Science Solution is designed for tissue homogenisation. Those who do not require an OLED control unit will find the basic ULTRA-TURRAX Tube Drive model to be the simpler and less powerful option.
